Does anybody here use or have any experience with the Gigabyte ATI 3870 512Mb card?
Im building a system and the motherboard i'm using supports CrossFireX so I would be able to use 2 of these cards if i wanted to. I heard somone say that Nvidia works best with Intel stuff so i was wondering if getting a single Nvidia card would be better than getting 2 ATI 3870's. The system so far: Intel S775 Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz CPU ASUS S775 P5Q-Pro Core 2 Motherboard ASUS 8600GT 512MB 2x DDR2 1GB Generic 667MHz RAM 320GB Western Digital KS 7200rpm 16M SATA HDD

None with the Gigabyte model, but my friend bought 2 Powercolor 3870 512mb and they are running like a charm.
I, my self, own an older model (X1900) from Sapphire, and I've been disappointed with by its noise. It also seems to be overheating lately, probably due to the poor/cheap fan/heatsink installed on it. Good SLI motherboards usually cost more than good Crossfire motherboards, hence why I favor Crossfire over SLI at the moment. You should take a look at the HD 4850/4870, amazing reviews so far. Although before buying two of those, I'd wait to see the performance of the 4870 X2... when it comes out. |
