I've been wanting to get a new computer for awhile now, and I'm wondering if this is decent for the price.

That is a sweet computer. Huge screen for a laptop, good graphics, good memory. Processor could be a little faster. It seems expensive to me though. Probably because I build and use desktops for gaming. Laptops are only for gaming if you MUST have a laptop and only a laptop. You could get a much better desktop for $1500 then just get a $500 laptop for internet and work on the go.
If you must have a laptop to replace your desktop, then this one seems good. But if you can do without gaming away from home, then build a desktop and get a slower, smaller laptop. |

I agree with Dark_King's post. It is definitely a sweet laptop, although portability-wise, it's not that great.
Granted, the specifications are awesome for a gaming laptop. Dual SLI 8600GTs, new Core 2 Duo 45nm processor, 2 GBs of memory, 320 GB of space, wifi draft n, bluetooth 2.0, 5.1 surround sound (if I'm not mistaken), 9 cells battery, etc. Only downfall in the specifications would be the HD DVD-ROM... As you probably read last week (more info here), HD DVD is dead. I personally don't recommend buying dead technologies... Try emailing them about it if you do intend to buy it. On the other hand, I doubt, with all that's included, that the battery is able to run on its own very long. My friend had a 7900 GO (single 512MB video card) in his laptop and he couldn't run (he could, but it kept lagging) new games (ex: Rainbow Six : Vegas) without being directly connected to an electricity source. This laptop has 2 video cards, 2 hard drives, etc. I'm seriously wondering how long the battery can last on its own... In the end, it depends what you are looking for. Perhaps cnet.com has a few reviews on it? |

A laptop would be better right now... Could anyone suggest a better option around the same price? Preferably one with a Blu-ray player rather than HD DVD. Thanks!
EDIT: Actually, a desktop would be fine. What are the better desktops for $500 less that you were talking about Dark King?

Bajjjebus i could build two pc's for that price,if your not always on the move i don't see the point in paying $1000 extra just for mobility reasons.

Yeah desktops are always the best way to go because you don't have to upgrade everything straight away like you would with a laptop, You could gradually build everything in the space of two years and save a tone of cash. Plus when the parts get old or out dated just upgrade a small portion instead of a total recall.
