I don't know what the moniter I currently own is called... it isn't LCD, it says Trinitron on it.
EDIT: Seagate SV35 Series ST3500641AV 500GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM My hard drive seems small, I hardly have anything on it but I always have to delets something to save another thing. Is this one any good?

It also says Dell on it I just realized...

Sony Trinitron I'd guess. What's the screen size? I'd recommend using it instead of buying a LCD screen, unless you need more room (homeworks?), since you'll save a hundred dollars.

Do you intend to recycle your current hard drive or did your budget include a new hard drive?

I'll try to build something similar to yours and see how it turns out. I'm pretty sure you could find another (or more) e-commerce with better prices or one with price match. I mean, there must be plenty in the US.

The Trinitron has a bigger screen than he Hanns, so I'll keep it. What do you mean by recycling my hard drive? Oh, if I get a new hard drive, will everything I have on the old one be gone?

Obviously, if you don't transfer the data...

Do they even sell motherboards with IDE slots now-a-days? Honestly, I don't know...

You're right, the motherboard dosen' t seem to have one of those... What kind of slotwould a hard drive have that my motherboard should have?

Well, all the newer motherboards have SATA2 (backward compatible) slots for hard drives.

The wireless cards needs a PCI slot (see quote). To my knowledge, every motherboard comes with at least one PCI slot.

As for your old hard drive, you might be able to get an IDE/SATA converter or IDE/USB converter (if it exists and if it doesn't cost too much...). That's if you would like to transfer your old data to your new computer...

Alright, I'll see if the motherboard has SATA2 and PCI slots, and I really don't care much about the stuff on this hard drive, so I won't be needing to transfer it...
EDIT:PCI Express x1: 2
PCI Express x16: 2 x PCI-E x16 (blue @ x16 mode, black @ x4 or x1 mode)
That's what the motherboard says about PCI slots, but it dosen't say anything about SATA2... It's an Asus P5K Deluxe...

When you're wondering what are the exact specifications for an ASUS motherboard, search their website since they a full list of specifications for all their boards (maybe not... but if it's a popular motherboard, then it will be there).

Official Website: ASUS Socket 775 Lists

I didn't see SATA2 there either... What kind of hard drive should I get then? What slots do other hard drives fit into?
"Six SATA2 connectors with RAID support" says neoseeker.com is that what you mean by SATA2?

Yes, it means the motherboard has six SATA2 slots and supports a RAID setup. (for more information about RAID, see wikipedia)

IMO PhysX isn't worth the money yet. There's very few games that use it, and so far it's just been a way to add crap flying around while lowering FPS.

Totally agree there.

Also, if you're buying a new hard drive/motherboard, why are you getting an IDE/ATA100? Buy a SATA2...

I thought you recommended PhysX earlier Corbs... okay I won't get that, and I thought that hard drive would work, I'll look for an IDE/SATA2 one...

I did? Well, then that must of slipped through...

As connnnn said, PhysX isn't worth the money atm. Of course, I suspect that it will be of greater use in the upcoming months, years. Therefore, if you ever come across a game that you cannot run (or is choppy) due to the lack of a physics card, then buy one. Otherwise, just wait.

On second thoughts, I'll do my build on the weekend (if I can spare free time) since justifications might take a bit longer than just posting random compatible parts...
