yep, for the past few years i've been thinking that AMD was a little better for gaming, and Intel was only the clear winner when it came to encoding/converting audio stuff.. but NOW, i definitely think that Intel is better for gaming too... from what i've read, AMD had been ahead because of its faster FSB outweighing Intel's larger L2 cache, but now Intel's multicore processers are just better than AMD's
-also, when deciding between AMD and Intel, i seriously don't think you need to weigh how much more reliable one company's product is than the other, just because i honestly believe they are both just fine, like, when it comes to quality lol |

i agree that it is unlikely to have either chip fail on you, but it is less likly that your going to have a problem with an intel. that plus the fact that they are 60% faster makes the decision easy.

Sigh, company given statistics, or statistics given by loyalists could be very well skewing the data. I don't trust fanboys with games and I don't trust loyalist hardware buyers on buying decisions. For poor people like me here is the rundown of what criteria to base your decision on.
1) Price- The most you get for your money 2) Performance- Look up third party researched stats 3) Availability- How fast can it get to you if you are in a hurry

I was an AMD only fan and have stuck too AMD till now. I researched and found that the E6600 is the best chip to get as it overclocks well the next chip up does not, going by a few diff post that i have found. prices are dropping as well so I should have held off till the dropped but never mind.
i bought a P5n32-e-sli motherboard and a e6600 with cosair 2gb dual ddr800 ram, 8800gtx.. my previous set was the same graphics card but i had a k8n platinum motherboard, fx-55 processor clocked to 2.8gh (same as (fx-57) adn 2 gig ddr400 ram. on the amd setup I only got 7500 points on 3dmark 06 but on the intel setup (benchmarked it last night, just finished custom build) i got 9785 points on 3d mark. so a massive diff in points. might be due the dual core processor. the intel c2d e660 was not clocked either. once i have bought a frezzer pro 7 for the my e6600 will let you know how well it clocks.. if you are going to upgrade i would deffo got intel at the moment. Hay used to be a AMD fan still am just wished that amd were a but quicker with releaseing a processor. dont think i will be going back in a hurry though, because i bought the motherboard that i did which is futre proof as it supports the quad setup and plus it had 3 x pci express (2x16 and 1x8). not sure what the 3rd is for yet but i like it very much. P5n32-e-sli http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=505256 e6600 bench mark is about 10 fps faster than a amd 5000 chip and faster tha the fx-62 chip as well. http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/91...e_4/index.html |
