right what ive got is a computer hooked up to wanadoo 1mb to 2mb broadband with a speedtouch usb modem. My xbox 360 is gets its internet connection through an ethernet cable which is connected to my computer .

The connection doesnt seem to be that great . does anyone know what i could do to speed it up other than upgrading to 8mb ( which i might be doing soon ).

I was thinkin mabey some sort of router or sumin ? casue i have a feeling the internet is getting shared between the computer and xbox 360 even though im not using the computer.

some help would be most appreciated

well i hook mine straight to the router and sense i only use one ethernet cable the internet in my comp no long works so its only going to my 360 its works great.

If you connect to the modem with your computer, and connect to your computer with your xbox, then you're using internet connection sharing through your computer which slows it down. If you've got money to blow, pick up a D-Link gaming router, it's about $120 and is probably one of the best uses for your money to keep your ping down. Basically its got built in functionality to prioritize gaming programs to send the packets through firts you can be popping out a 500-600k download and max your upload (pretty much) and you won't suffer an ping increases. And yes, i've done it where both of those are running while i'm doing an FPS and still pulling 40 ping.

It's named a gaming router but you can easily set it up for any other type of application. You can also do a whole host of neat little things for restrictions as well.

it seems to be wireless, mabey theres a way of getting a hardwired one ?.. hmm i might try presudae my parentals to get wireless. were paying the same price for shady wired and slow connection anyway.

I think it's the 1300 that's wireless, the 1100 isn't. About 20 bucks cheaper. Thing is, the wireless router has the same amount of ports for lines as the hardline only one so there's really no point in getting the non-wireless when you're dishing out that much already. As for "wired" being slower, its faster than wireless.

"As for "wired" being slower, its faster than wireless" yeh i forgot to add that my wired connection is 1 - 2 mb , if i upgrade to wirless they will put it up to 8mb you see.

o ok. and i must say good idea i have a D-Link and it works wonders with my gaming. i have no lag at all pretty much. plus i got comcast so evrything is hella fast

yeh guyrobsin you know that patch that came out for far cry for pc ??... well its out for xbox 360 . i downloaded it today and theres pretty much no lag and i think they have increased the frame rate casue it is soo smooth !!!!! sooo happy haha. So i think ill just wait till i get wireless broadband then mabey get the wirless gaming router aswell to make sure when huxley is out that i have a SPEEDY connection

yeah i kno its nice. and now when you melee with your sword it shows it. like ya know how when other peopel do it to you and it doesnt even show anything well it does now.

yeh i noticed that aswell theres alot more people playing it now casue its sorted out the lagging alot
