In many ways Planetside is Huxleys predecessor in that its a mass online fps with 3 warring factions. It was very underated in my opinion and one of my favourite games. I always considered it the best game of 2003 but obviously Huxley is going to blow it out of the water.
Still, if you havent played or heard of Planetside do check it out. You can actually play for free now i've heard (up to Battle Rank 5). It's fantastic when your in the middle of a big battle with hundreds of friendly troops fighting with you against an enemy force of hundreds. http://planetside.station.sony.com/ |

Hey Boris,
Theres a fair few planetsiders here. You should be a little careful here though as there are a few trigger happy trolls on these forums... and if i remember correctly the last person who tried to suggest people play planetside was flamed rather a lot .. all because a few people were a little too short sighted to see a suggestion to get a feel for the genre as someone trying to divert attention from Huxley to Planetside.

Planetside is THE best Fps out there right now. AND its free.
Yes, I know it has crap for graphics - give it a break its 3 years old. Where else can you be involved in a 400 person battle with air, armor, and infantry.... Buried - can you please explain how it REMOVES all elements of skill from an FPS? Planetside is 100% skill. Being level 25 doesn't mean crap in PS, skill is EVERYTHING. You have the same weapons as everyone else, no matter what the level. The game is ENTIRELY skill based. I don't think youre talking about the same game, guy. |

Now its a bit stale and old for me but it will always have a place in my heart Currently they are running a scheme where you can play indeffinitely for free, no cost at all, but you can only achieve battle rank 7, wich basically allows you to take on a very specialised battlefield role (sniper only, medic only, air pilot only, close combat grunt, medium combat grunt etc.). The free play means its deffinitely well worth taking a good look at the game, you will see some big battles being fought out. The old days of 600 player battles have sadly passed and the most you can get now is around 400, but you will likely on average see battles of about 300 taking place, wich is still more than enough and probably larger than you will get in Huxley according to the spiel released so far by Webzen. My advice to you is be prepared to spend a fair bit of time learning the game, the scale can be a bit overwhelming although I understand theyve added a lot of tutorials now.

Yeah i think a lot of people from Planetside are goin to get Huxley. im PKer from werner VS. planetsides a good game but SOE are lazy with updates and after 8 months im kind of bored with it. Mint game dont get me wrong. Huxleys looks good though

Well the game wont take me THAT long to understand...atleast aiming wise as i'm used to playing games where aiming is the main skill...like UT, quake, unreal 2 expanded multiplayer..i never got into tribes though. Also anyone got a good video of planetside? like a fighting one or something.

Also its not realy too MMOish when it comes to pla, no economy nothing but combat, and like i said all subservers luckily huxley will use streaming so no connecting to different maps. Also the game DOES require skill but really its all in who click first etc this game is the worst with lack of skill needed to aim no firing impairment correct me if im wrong. |

So you think it takes more skill to move your mouse to someone who's running then someone who's dodging? UT aim is by far more of a skill then BF2 or CSS because there is a player who's always dodging. Or there is a game i used to play called Unreal 2 Expanded Multiplayer where you gotta have even better aim (also has terrible net coding or whatever the name of it that effects the part u hit the guys at) because the player you see is dodging (these dodges are 5x's longer and 10x's higher then UT) off slopes, off walls and fly about 30 feet in the air fast...movement is slower then UT or quake though, but it's like tribes where they are all over the map. BF2/CSS you just spray or just aim near the target and they die or get him. So like i said...aiming in UT is by far more of a skill then CSS or BF2. Recoil is easy...just aim at the feet or if you know how to aim keep moving your mouse down while you are shooting.

edit- wow..you said don't flame you but you're flaming me over my opinion...and i'm an idiot? LOL!!! next you will say BF2/CSS is harder to aim then any of those tribes games. You really got no idea what you're talking about! there isnt much of a recoil to CSS for most of the guns unless your aim sux so bad! it's not hard at all also...it's pretty much a DM game also or everyone makes it that way. BF2 is by FAR more teamwork based game though but it's easy as crap to aim in that game + css even with alittle recoil (unless it's those guns where your crosshairs go shoot at the top of the sky). Dodge,aim,shoot > walk, point, click I'm not a UT fan boy (i don't like UT actually)..i like fast game play where you actually gotta aim because the movement compared to walking around pointing at different things. Any game where there is fast movement like UT or Quake would own walk shoot slower paced games like CSS and BF2 I've played atleast 50 hrs of BF2 demo and 70 hours of BF2 full game...i got it on several of my old xfire names i used to have and i've played CSS...check out my sig! and i've also played atleast another 4 hrs ontop of these hours on other usernames. Quake 3 (i think i got the most potential in that game...1 week of q3 demo i pwned hard..played 1 game on the full and that's all and on a 32 player server and got double the score then second place guy...q4 demo i was top when i got used to the game..so second map+)...got that video from the pure pwnage forums aswell as a fatal1ty one. Vo0 owns!
