Thumbs up Quake Wars Beta

Just for anyone interested, you can now download the Quake Wars beta for FilePlanet subscribers only though.

They're giving out the rest of the beta keys soon (probably later this week I'd guess). I haven't heard HOW exactly they're giving away the non-FP keys though.

I'd like to try it out, but there's no way it'd run on this PC well enough to even bother... it's not supposed to go retail until mid to late July (right before Quakecon of course), so I would guess they will release a full demo sometime in the next few weeks as well.

Well i've seen the trailers and what features they have in game, it reminds me a lot of all the versions of Battle Field mixed together improved and in Quake style. The game looks awesome and i want it.
Only one question: Is it p2p? Or it's like BF you buy and enjoy?

It will be like BF2 with the buy and play as you wish.

I'm a Fileplanet suscriber and I tried it for a little while. I liked what I saw, my main complaint is that it is very likely it will become strafejumper paradise.

However I didn't play for long as my current PC can't handle it and my new one probably won't be ready until sometime around the 4th. Looking forward to retail and the demo.

Well yeah the game seems great. The map system reminds me of BF1942, some looks of the game reminds me a bit of BF Viet"nam-nam", it mostly looks like BF2 but inserted with BF2142 vehicles. And the quake story behind it all =)

When the demo comes out i try it, if i like it i pre-order the game and start the pwnage with aircraft :D

Old ET players tend to complain that the movement in ETQW is too slow (since Doom3 engine physics just feel "heavier" than the Q3 one on the whole). But if you ever watched competitive ET matches, strafe jumping in and of itself didn't play a HUGE part, because ultimately it was all about fighting over an objective, and not so much just racing someone to get to a specific spot.
