Link Never Talks (Zelda Series)

For a guy who is capable of almost everything, he just doesn't seem capable of uttering a single word, and all the characters always just seem to "magically" know his name, and the bad guys seem to just "know" what he's after.

the only exception to this rule is in Ocarina of Time, when princess Zelda asks for his name he'll say the name in green text... that's the only exception though, is that all he's capable of saying? Then again I suppose if he could talk there'd be large 2 person dialogues between him and the bosses, and the main bad guys tend to have a long enough monologue as is (although it's forgiven as it actually does add to it and in some cases makes the storyline clear).

but really... he never talks... there's even flash animations floating around that make fun of this (such as this one http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/381814 )

When I was awaiting the release of Twilight Princess, I really hoped they would do voice-overs. They are all still great games, but they should have people talk.

Yes, I forget he did speak in the animated series that was shown on the old "mario show" but I'm talking about in the games. In the actual games he only shouts, other than the above mentioned exception. Also, I don't know how true this is but I heard that the animated series wasn't done entirely under Nintendo's supervision, and that it was entirely american made.

In actual truth, it's been hinted at by Nintendo that Link was intended to be a child character for innocence, such is why he's a little kid in most of the zelda games. It's basically along the lines of the innocent heart of a child defeating evil, but after almost no complaints were given with Ocarina of Time (which at the time, was the only one where Link was turned into an adult) they sort've caved into what the people wanted which is why in "Twilight Princess" Link is an adult the entire game.

If you really want to hear him talk (and play the worst zelda games ever created), play the CD-i games :P

I believe there's emulators/roms for it, although I don't know where specifically to find them.
