I've worked with nvidea a long time, but somehow the goforce 4 was all of a sudden not anymore corretly supported by the newer direct x versions. No updated drivers for the gcard were made anymore too. So thats when i bought an ati 9550 ge, and i'll be sticking to ati and amd for a while. In general i have the feeling they have better service and higher prestations. But that might be just my view.

I've been Nvidia for a while now, however i'm about switching to ati.
It seems that Nvidia actually does have the better hardware...but the supporting software conflicts with the hardware and does not always support the hardware very well. So having the best hardware in the world aint gonna do you any good if your software wont support it properly. I'm switching to ATI their drivers are sound and stable and support the hardware very well. I rarly hear of a person having problems with the ATI drivers. Gforce4, and the 6800 series problems with Nvidia blew it for me with them. and thier hardware never seems to like overclocking very well. ATI's usually seems to run faster...meaning they can over clock better. |

I put other cause i really dont have a faverate, right now i have an ati card, but both are just as good as each other, but i have more ati cards then nvidia, so think next gfx upgrade, gunna get nvidia, they do seem to be bouncing ahead of ati abit..

alot of high end games these days work directly with nVidia so it would kinda stand to reason that nVidia are going to be better for gaming, ati are still very nice cards though

I defintaly prefer Nvidia, espcaily the cards i got. But i had a very nice time with ATI haveing a 9800 pro for my older system along with 1.5 gigs play css and bf2 on med/highsettings perfectaly. And as other stated before i never had any problems with ati drivers. Both make excellent cards.

Well it depends do you want "Twitchy and Stuttery" graphics? at the price of Preformance? Nvidia is "Prone" to have crapy drivers and compatibility issues with Direct X versions. But they are right thier graphics are Un-Presidented. They have the best...it just runs like crap.
Then go Nvidia. They have the best Quality. Do you want seemless graphics that run quite smoothly with no driver problems? Then go with ATi. They have the best Preformance.

This post doesn't make sense when it comes to arguing which ones better. Because the bottom of the box will have an Nvidia logo. And plus the game demonstation was at a Nvidia 7800 GTX release fair thingy. They even said
"Props to Nvidia!" So it would be best recommended by the creators of Huxley to use Nvidia even though ATI can still be used.

Nvidia has the "Best Looking" graphics.
ATi has the "Best Preformence". If you like Eye Candy...get Nvidia. If you want the fastest and best preforming card at the cost of eye candy get ATi. He said "Props to Nvidia!" because of the lighting and shading effects...the detail and quality of the graphics you were looking at...Thats Eye Candy. I suggest getting the ATi x850 XT PE AGPslot if you have AGP and slapping a silencer on it over clock it and go to town! Zoom Zoom!

All I've ever owned is Nvidia too. Well, I have had a couple ATi cards but I can tell you Nvidia has the best quality though. Its quite obvious no one has to really tell anyone that.
But in an MMO your looking for performance, because you are going to be competing against other players that have optimized thier rig for performance. Those are usually the ones that have less hardware lag and usually get the most kills. Nvidia just runs slower because they are processing more with thier chips and memory. your gonna get some decent amounts of hardware lag with a nvidia card in a game like huxley...although its gonna look top notch!

I've owned cards from both companies, and when it comes down to it the individual cards are more of a concern to me than the company that made it. Both companies seemed to be pretty good on support, drivers, etc. They are in a big competition for a lot of business, after all, so they have to be. Sometimes ATi wins out over nVidia during a certain generation, and sometimes it's the opposite.

Quad SLI ? vs crossfire.......
hmm, i guess it depends on how silly you can be with your cash :? personally I just get the best performing card in the price range, theres not much point "liking" one company over the other, after all, what have they ever done for you apart from take your cash!! So yeah, im running an overclocked x800 pro atm :D - time to upgrade methinks. |

Hopefully I will get the job at GameTrader. I was a likely candidate. Then my hard work will roll in cash. That way I will super upgrade and boot all of you off with my mega "no fag-lag" System. MUHUHAHAHA.
Results for the job are this coming week. Around tuesday or wensday.

I think everyones experience seems to differ...
my experience of nvidia (and il be honest i used to be a fanboy until the FX series) was that they ran faster but simply couldnt hack AA at all and had better driver support - overclocked quite well also, but didnt have as rich graphics. Then got an ATI 9800 pro and am currently running an X800 and have fund the drivers are OK, overclocks ok but graphics quality is much better and for the first time ever ive been able to run games with AA on (the rest of my system is pretty decent as well - always has been). So i dont prefer either company, i liked nividias ease of use and high speed, i like ATIs graphics quality and consistent performance.
