If we 360 players have to pay a fee for this too i atleast hope that they will lower the fee a little.

Well, as a first post, just thought I'd chime in on the whole fee thing.

I'm not a fan of the idea. Huxley looks great and I've been following it for a while, but the idea of a fee turns me off.

Other on-line games don't charge a fee, and I'm sure they have "maintenance costs" too. So what determines if one game charges and another does not?

Gold vs. Silver? Good point. Maybe gold should get a discount?

If there was a free trail period, I certainly would check it out, but since I jump around a lot on games, I doubt I would think it was worth it, at least to me.

For hardcore 100% Huxley players, esp. w/ Silver, I'm sure it would be. But for the casual Gold player (me), I doubt Huxely is going to be different enough to warrant the monthly fee (in my case).

1. There are many games who take a monthly fee, and there are no maintenance fees as far as i know.

2. Gold will be in favour of being able to play multiplayer, Silver won't. Gold is the multiplayer subscription. EOD

FYI, according to a post above, Xbox Live Silver accounts can still play MMGs.

I checked it out, and it's true.

MMO games will come with their own subscription plan, so even if you’re not a full-fledged Xbox Live Gold member you’ll be able to participate in this growing phenomenon.

sure, there's just no mmo that doesn't require gold out yet (as far as i know).
PSU: Gold + PSU subscription
FFXI: Gold + PSU subscription
etc.

And I said that Gold members can play multiplayer and Silver members can't except for MMOs. didn't know that silver members could play any multiplayer at all, since i couldn't even play the psu demo when i had silver lol.

EDIT: You forgot to mention this aswell:
Note: Silver level requires Xbox 360 storage device and broadband connection. Xbox Live Marketplace downloads and MMO games may require an additional fee.

Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet, but I'm in a hurry.

I see lots of 360 users saying they shouldn't have to pay or that the payment should be reduced because they pay the $50 a year to play online.

Well I'm not sure if I'm just missing something (it's very possible I don't get something lol), but people who PC game don't get to play online for free at all. In fact it's way more than 360 players have to pay. You think $50 a year is bad? try $30 a month. Do the math on the yearly payment for that...I think it's lame for people to try and get out of a monthly payment when both sides are paying for the ability to play on the internet. If there is going to be a monthly fee, everyone should get it.

well gold is 50$ a year and that not bad and i recal FFXI(was a xbox mmo) having a 10$ monthly fee and u need gold so thats 120$+50$! a year lol and Phantasy star universe 10$ a month so huxley is an mmo it will proly have a 10% monthly fee

Now ive been following this game for a while and it looks awesome but the one thing that makes me hesitate is the MMF. There seems to b a lot of arguing over the fee, and to b honest with u im on the side of no MMF. Im a 360 user and i agree there should b no fee for Gold members. Now i know there will b a bunch of posts after mine saying Silver this and Silver that but the bottom line is that Silver does not allow you to play other games online and we all know that we do not buy a PC or a Console for 1 game, lets b honest ppl this Silver membership argument is a load of BS to say the least. The next argument will b about the upkeep of servers, which is another garbage argument there are many other games that run their own servers and have no MMF. Look at Halo 2, Halo 3, Battlefield Modern Combat and if you are going to say that its different because they are not MMO's that is not the case all servers need to b updated and maintained and info stored for each person so that argument is null. The last argument i want to address is the pricing, YES console users pay more than PC users, we have to pay for internet, game, system and if you want online then we need to pay for a GOLD membership where as PC users need to pay for internet, computer, game and MMF so yes the initial start up cost for a PC user is higher but over long term it is more expensive for console users those are the facts deal with it. Now the reality is that we are gonna have to pay to play no matter how much we argue but what they can do is give some more accommodating options for payment for example:

OP 1 : 1 time lifetime membership fee $80 - $100
OP 2 : Monthly Fee $10 - $15
OP 3 : Weekly Fee $5 - $8
OP 4 : Free Trial (time frame TBD) $0 - $0

and all these options would b available to EVERYONE then that would cover all kinds of gamers OP 1 for ppl who play 24/7 and are looking for hardcore game play and then the other options are for ppl with varying gaming time frames. I dont know about anyone else but i wouldnt mind paying up to $120 for a lifetime membership, and there would still b the other options for everyone else, company still makes money, and gaurenteed ppl will still use other options because not to many parents and ppl will shell out $170 - $190 for game and lifetime membership, well if their parents are paying for it anyway but if the game is a good as it looks then id b in for sure for a one time fee of that magnitude. But if it turns out to b only an MMF then i can assure u that for me at least this game is never going to enter my collection, mays well go with games like Two Worlds and Fallout 3 all have Mplayer and its free, they may b on a smaller scale but at least theres no additional costs. Its too bad that the gamer always takes the brunt of it but all companies want is the almighty $$

yes, i agree with primary paradox. there should be diff options for diff people and there WILL almost deff b a monthly fee. but it depends on that monthly fee. me personel being 14 ^^ anything over £10 is too much, along with everquest2 (( a MMORPG like WoW( which is around £9 a month)) and my gold membership i doubt my parents will fork out anything more than that. so the huxley creators are limiting themselves if they charge too much and will deff loose costomers if they charge too much. the big questions isnt " is there going to be a monthly fee?" but " how much is the monthly fee going to be?".

edit-PARADOX HOW THE HELL DID U GET SO MUCH GAMERSCORE!?!?!?!?!?

mmo's really arnt meant to be played on consoles, i think anything at or under 15 is fair, for continued development, and access to play on the servers with many more people than you can play with in your normal 'pwn people' games

you don't need xbox live subs to play MMO's that i've heard

100% sure there'll be a fee, as you gotta pay for development and to play on THEIR servers.. unless the 360 doesn't give updates or whatever, and that would mean PC players can't play with 360 players

Most people don't realize having gold membership has nothing to do with MMOs, gold pays microsoft for xbox live so you can play online in your non-mmo games, MMOs like huxley are run by different companies, and they have their own servers.

But that said.. they should give some deal for gold members, but that'd require the companies to form some sort of pact ;/

Isn't Huxley going to support in game advertisements to help pay for service and maintenance?

Anyway, I'm fairly sure that there will be a subscription charge for both PC and 360 users. $10-$15 monthly seems to be a logical guess.

Well yeah, I'm aware of that. I guess I'm referring to in game advertising in a manner similar to that of Sony's "Home".
