You do NOT! I repeat DO NOT!! need a Gold membership to play MMOG's (such as Huxley) on Xbox Live.
You can pay NOTHING to Microsoft (aka Silver Membership) and STILL play Huxley.
I've already heard over 5 arguements on this trhead about "but I'm already paying for Xbox Live Gold."

ok...i think we know this already...but remember that we 360 users already pay the Gold membership because we play other games via xbox live also....so yeah we cant just go back down to silver because then we cant play our other live games...

im not saying that 360 users shouldnt pay because i understand that it it cost money to run a game like this but....it seems like pc users dont understand that we are already paying gold for other games....and now we have to pay another fee on top of that.....thats all

That's a penalty you pay for letting Microsoft dictate what you can play over your internet connection. That's something that I doubt will change for a long time, the people owning the consoles have you at their mercy. They know you'll spend the money in order to play the games and they'll milk you for whatever they can.

why does everyome moan about this whole xbox live gold ****. the reason you pay the whole massive 36 bucks a year is becuase xbox live is the best gaming community out there right now .. plus not to mention you get free demos trailiers music videos etc etc . works out about 1 pound 50 a week !. if you cant afford that then buy the ps3 for its **** free service. we will have to pay like the pc users.. we may be getting milked for what we got :P, but i used to play pc games and they run no where near as smooth online casue of the difference in machines etc... plus i cudnt afford a decent graphics card haha

Well first off Xbox live gold cost 50 dollars a year and every thing is not free even when you have a gold membership. You get demos free but a lot of other stuff cost. Things like themes for your 360 and information too. I don't mind paying to play a game like Huxley as long as it comes out before it becomes dated. Is it true that the 360 version will be different from the PC version because it has an offline mode? If so then people that buy the game will have options not to pay to play on the 360.

and even on a marketing scale, molding huxley so peeps without internet can play is a bad idea, isnt it a good idea to get everyone on xbox live? milking everyone?

and yet again, i say, its wrong to charge us for money when they already get money from putting ads in their game...

I don't like paying monthly fees but if they do and I want to play Huxley then I will have to pay it.PC and 360 owners should pay about the same.From what I've heard you don't need to have gold to play MMOs so if you hate paying both that much don't pay.Im going to buy the 360 version and I won't like paying the fees but I will have to deal with it and for those who can't deal with it.....Tough ****.

Guildwars seems to do fine without monthly fees but yes it is set up differently than other mmos but still it is not insane to hope that maybe they wont charge us. I think that they will end up charging us. I hope it is less than the 15$ per month other games charge if they do charge us...

heres sumthin for u guys . ur saying its fair that we pay the fee same as the pc players . fair enough i can see why but i dont know if its the same in the states, im scottish and over here we pay £50 for a 360 game and a measley £20 for pc games . think its fair that we pay £30 extra cause were console owners and still have to pay the monthly fee ... i dont .

Why 360 owners should NOT pay a monthly fee:
WE already pay 7 bucks a month to play on xbox live! AND OUR GAMES COSTS ALOT MORE THAN PC GAMES

Why PC owners should PAY a monthly fee:
YOU don't pay 7 bucks a month to pay online! AND YOUR GAMES ARE FOR FREE (compared to Xbox 360 games)

otherwise, IF 360 players have to pay for playing huxley, lets say 3 bucks a month, then PC players should pay atleast 7 bucks for playing huxley! WHY? because it's unfair that one part of the community should have to pay more than the other one! Why 7 bucks and not 9? well PC players still can't play every game available for the 360

Gold subscription pays microsoft to help run THEIR servers. I am gonna assume that huxley will have their own servers for 360 and not a microsoft owned server.

Console 400 bucks. membership 50bucks a year...
PC. 1000+ dollars or upgrade to a Direct X10 video card 300+ dollars


Both play the same games in the end. Life is not always fair. If they have a fee, it will be the same for everyone. Because if one is cheaper people will complain how one group of people do not have to pay as much. and I think the company would like to maxamize profits.

R4ge is correct, you will still need to pay for the MMO whether you have a platinum, gold, or silver account. If you don't want to pay double, and just want to play Huxley, you can get a silver which is free, and then just pay Huxley's fee.

thats ridiculous those price ranges are right but you use your pc for far more things then games...in fact the pc it self is essentially not built for games, games are built for the pc, so i do think that with the subscription for xbox live 360 owners deserve to pay a low amount and so should pc owners. And why wouldnt they own a few servers from microsoft just about every other game on the 360 runs with them.
