Ok, this will probably sound idiotic, but how about instead of giving us a knife, they load us up with a 'fix bayonet' option for certain weapons (e.g. assault rifles, front line stuff). (Still give the knife to snipers/heavy weapons)
This mainly comes from a frustration i've had in other MMO's and FPS's. In EVE i'm an FC, led a raid in WoW, and strangely enough, i've been severely disappointed that i've never had the opportunity of yelling 'FIX BAYONETS!' into ts/vent before..... rofl, told you it would be moronic, sorry for wasting a portion of your day |

However cool bayonets are, they are impractical and terrible weapons. Most soldiers from WWI and on have not used bayonets because they are very unwieldy and can get stuck in the victim, causing the attacker to possibly die as well.

Well you wouldn't pistol whip someone would you. A rifle bash make sense. Also stop taking your view on all games from halo; I'm pretty sure only halo has a pistol bash 2 times.

Though, it is true that they are relatively ineffective weapons on todays (much less future) battlefields. Still, cooler then a knife though, dontcha think? |

if anything you would have a knife and this subject of bayonets was talked about many times and if anything they might they might not they are dangling it right in front of use and telling us little by little i think i remember reading sumthing about bayonets in an interview i will try 2 find it but ya like i said weve talked about bayonets ALOT and ryoken when huxley comes out and u wanna charge me with a bayonet feel free il give you 5 seconds them open fire a bayonet = a unreliable and clumsy knife that is better or hand held for more effective killing and efficiency

Actually this a thread discussing bayonets only which in my opinion is ok. The other topics are about the entirety of close combat weapons.

Actually it was, it was extremely more effective, soldiers adapt fast to not die and soldiers stopped using the bayonet and went to rifle bashes. Have you ever got hit with a wooden stock of a rifle? Well then, I'll have to give you a demonstration.

too me i thing sticking a kinfe in somone is a bit betterthen just a wack...and if your worried about it getting syour knife stuck because theres more guys you were probably dead any way. besides the amount of times you would have to hit somone if there where more then 1v1 that would bring up the same problem of getting your bayonet stuck.
HAve you evered hear of a battle won through a rifle bashing charge... I guess you don't agree with me on this one but i never really like using my gums as a bat.....not that i am shure the bayonets is a good idea either..its just somthing differant Last edited by outchtown; 11-05-2007 at 12:11 AM. |

Well, i'm so glad the forum police is here to shut me down. Anyway, this thread, as mentioned earlier, is only discussing the possibility of bayonets, and the only other thread remotely related to this one has only mentioned them in passing---figured i'd give bayonets their own thread to draw attention, eh?
