Now that we have a new trailer filled with great ingame footage examples, we have some new weapons added to the mix. Many people were worried about the selection that was presented and the weapons may not vary much. A few from the video today:
Lightning gun. Almost at the very start you see an enemy shoot this at the cam, unfortunately we don't know if it is a single shot or a continous stream. Thoughts? Second we have a grenade launcher. Seems to be a pretty decent weapon for mid range, wouldn't want to give it a shot short range though. Take both of you out. Decent rate of fire but the damage seems to be a little low if you're going to be on the recieving end of some auto fire. Next up from the first scene is the rocket launcher. From what I could see of the explosion debris it doesn't look like it has much area of effect to it, slow ROF as well. I think this should quiet some people's fears about it being a jump fest rockets only Quake game. Next scene is something that intrigues me, lets call it the blue ion rifle for want of a better descriptor. This weapon also sees alot of use during the video and a strange halo seems to appear above the enemy's head when being hit by this. Unfortunately I think that might be a gameplay element as a standard rifle has the same effect at another time. Another possibility is that it is an armor ability given to the player. As for the weapon itself it looks to pack a bit of a punch, good rate of fire and manageable recoil. Next we have an interesting gun, I think our first sniper rifle. Comes with a zoom function, slow rate of fire and an interesting model design. Something that may or may not be part of the weapon itself is the infra red view. An aspect of Huxley that I was eagerly awaiting more information on. But as for the weapon itself it looks to be either an accurate slow ROF rifle or our first glimpse of one of Huxley's sniper rifles. Next we see a rifle that has popped up over most of the video that is also not one of the previously released Discodia rifles. Seems to be a generic rifle, nothing too special. The drum magazines on the underside lead me to believe that it will be a useful thinning weapon for waves of zerglings. Next we have another rocket launcher also not of the previously released weapons. Uses a box clip on the side for a decent sized magazine I imagine. Shortly after the cam is on the recieving end of some larger missiles that DO have quite a spread as the person in 3rd view feels. Possible that some of the weapons are the same as those released earlier just with new models, we'll see. One thing I was dissapointed not to see were any shotguns.

![]() This is a screenshot on gametab from a few months ago, without actual video of how the shot spreads I can't realy tell what gun that is but I'm hoping its our missing shotgun. Please yell at me if you think I'm 100% wrong

I think its no so much a lack of power but a lack of accuracy. Most of the shots missed the target, but when they actually hit, it seemed to do some damage. A master of that weapon might be able to do some harm. (Notice the oneshotkill towards the middle of the vid) Quote:

The AR seems pretty standard, I would think that is or is similar to your starting weapon.
The Blue Pulsar Rifle thing seemed to pack a punch, I never saw a reload on any of the guns to know if there will be a plasma/battery system along with bullets or what. The 'sniper' rifle looked good, since the sights were not up for the video I couldn't tell what the scoped vs non-scoped was like, or if there is a free scale or a set scale system of scoping. Grenade Launcher is pretty sweet looking, and I also think it just need to be used better --Don't want to hide behind your squad's vehicles when this is in play lol. Rocket Launcher we first see appears to be an anti-armor model, because the rocket itself moves extremely fast, limiting the ability for a pilot to dodge. Didn't see a tracking system there, but there are good and bad things that come of those anyways. 2nd Rocket Launcher is more of a standard battle model, can't see the effect it has on the ground or its splash damage effects, but should be on par with other games. The 'Rocket Boots' effect looked pretty cool. Hopefully that is either an scaled enhancement you can apply to your boots (scaled as in it lasts longer the higher level enhancement you apply), or a skill that requires some leveling. The Infared does look like its a special device you can carry, or a skill you have to invest in. Rag Doll goodness. Vehicles are pretty sweet, wish there was footage of how feasible it is to take one down. I don't care for the 3rd person perspective (shouldn't matter), but it could be nice for some Xbox players, though there are some sight issues that would have to be resolved.

@Kev
It looks like the video only consists of a couple different players and it would be feasable that the blue halos above the enemies are from shots of the same player. By shotguns, I wanted to see how they acted ingame and how useful they are. Alot of games make a shotgun useless after about 5 feet making them almost melee weapons. @Ace I think the 3rd person perspective is simply from the vid being made from spectator view as I don't remember seeing crosshairs while in 3rd. I need to check out the vid again to make sure.

well planetside has third-person yet when you are in tp the person's crosshairs are not shown as well. SO it could have third-person similar to planetside.
