Lol this thread went from "where does your stash go when you die?" to "Lets question the world around us".

I'm going to contribute to the original question....

Personally I do not think they are going to implement a dropping system. With the huge battlezones with frenzies a plenty I can see this definatly being a setback. As for the answer to it I really can't think of the perfect one. Loosing money could be good but not great. Maybe taking points off your license could be another, I don't know. But I am sure Webzen is keeping us on our toes so we can be astounded at the product that they release to us.

Along those lines, Webzen did say that the players would be basically rolling in weapons that they could resell to NPCs. This wouldn't be much of a problem if you think that you're limited to 5 weapons to carry on. If there is no inventory system and you only can carry 5, maybe strap on one or two extras as "Baggage" it may just be the way they balance it out. But they did say that it would be very easy to get weapons. Being able to pick up the gun of the guy you just killed would be an easy way to fulfill that.

see heres your problem. you talk about ME being closed minded and that there is no point talking about it.but YOU wont beleive anything anyone says unless its agreeing with you. soooo lets see. im pretty sure that that makes you closed minded. i agree with soem things you all say. sure some games have little part of what makes an RPG an RPG. but pretty much all games have alittle of other types. but JUST BECAUSE ITS HAS ALITTLE DOES NOT MAKE IT AN RPG. and you talk about how i use wikipedia. well in my opinion its better then what you have. all you say is all these different things with nothing to back them up. i used cold facts and the your only agrument back was like "o wellthats not what they mean by it" and besides in you post you agreed with some of the things i said. you stated that some games have RPG elements in them and that they still might not be RPGs Huxley MAY have RPG elements in it BUT that does not make it an RPG. and dont talk shit about how our generation looks at stuff. you have no clue what your talking about. dont try and act like you know something when really your just putting out insults to make the other person look bad so in the end more people will agree with you.

If I may go off topic here for just one second, I do agree with Felix that while older games may not have looked pretty, they did in fact make up for it with gameplay. In fact, that is why I'm not such an avid gamer now like I was even one or two years ago. While the "prettiness" and "oooh-ahhh" factor has gone up (along with the sheer quantity of games), the quality factor has not.
I remember there used to be so many games I couldn't wait to buy, but now I'm turning over every stone I can find to try and find a good game.

That's why I tell all of the console fanboys (and anyone else for that matter) not to judge based upon processor power or wireless this, blu-ray that. GAMES are what it comes down to, and you can dress it up all you like, but without substance in the form of good games to back consoles up, they are nothing.

Sorry to go off topic there, but I just thought I'd put my two cents in on that topic.

Just curious Guy, how are you trying to spin this? That whole post was largely confusing and didn't actualy seem to present an arguement, just more whining. If you want to say that Huxley is not an RPG, that's great. I doubt anybody here will say otherwise. Well, there were a few dumbasses last month sometime who thought it was, but they haven't shown their faces around for a while.

I still don't understand your position. You jumped on my ass after I posted about the basis on how an RPG is defined as a genre and cited wikipedia. Then you state that there's games without RPG elements, and name some FPSs that DO have RPG elements as well as an adventure game that borderlines on an RPG. Then you pop out your last post where you make it sound like we're saying every game is an RPG, when I'm pretty sure we said basically the opposite.

All started might I add by this here quote:

Quote:
RPG isnt defined by a person getting stonger and such you idiot. dont talk smart when your just guessing. rpg is a role playing game. so if you can choose different classes then it will be a RPG bt if not then the game has not even alittle bit of RPG in it.
Which is wrong by the way. I believe what people say when I can either see how they came to that conclusion or see what the based it off of. I'm sorry if I find it hard to accept it when somebody comes up to me and says "The sky is falling."

I took connnnn's side because I agree with him, not because of any insults he may have posted. I don't have a vendetta against you, nor do I want one; I will disagree with you if I believe you are wrong, not try to pick out who I think is "on top" of an argument.

I would expect that most of the other forum goers share my position.

...anyone can argue with me all they like.. but from what ive seen and read... its a mmofps with rpg elements. the rpg elements being the interactive parts, such as the market place , trains, bars etc etc. The fps part being that you shoot people in first person.

felix my point was only that the game is not an RPG. i said that at the beginning and people said that i was wrong. i never stated that the game didnt have RPG elements i just said that the game wasnt one. and thats when everyone started going on about how the game IS an RPG. my point was that the game isnt but it does have elements of it. i jumped in when someone said that it isnt an RPG and tthen everyone disagreed with him. granted tha in my first post i said that if you cant choose classes then the game have no RPG in it and thats wrong. but the only reason i came in was becuase people said the game was. which it isnt.

Now that we've gotten the "definition of an RPG" out of the way, excuse me for fueling the fires a bit.

If your point has been that Huxley is not an RPG, but only has elements of an RPG, then my question is this: How many elements of an RPG have to be in a game before it can be classified as an RPG?

I personally believe that Huxley has enough of these elements to be classified as an RPG, although not only an RPG. It is an MMOFPSRPG in my book.

An example of what my question has to do with is the new Heroes of Might and Magic game, Dark Messiah. The game is played from a first-person perspective and (with a bow) you can shoot things. It also allows the player to advance in skill and change their character. Person A might say that it is an FPS with RPG elements, while person B might say it is an RPG with FPS elements. Person C might say that it is an RPGFPS.

well th easiest way to tell is to look at how the delelopers intended it to be. that game the delevlopers say its an RPG. so most likely it an RPG with FPS elements. either way i see what your all saying. and i agree. alittle. but i feel that nothing is going to change so how about we all just think what we want to think. sorry to anyone who ive pissed of during this "fight"

I can see this game incorporating a loot type of equipment game where you can pick up equipment from dead mobs (ie hybreds). You will probably have some sort of weight limit which you must adhere to or else you won't be able to move or will move much slower.

Now as far as Huxley not being a RPG FPS...I am wondering exactly how much experiance you have with RPGs...WOW, DOAC, AO, planetside, etc, etc. A game in which you start roleplaying in character can be considered a RPG. I personally think Huxley has a nice combination of both and could easlily be considered both. Hell they came out and said they are a RPG FPS so I would definately agree with the makers.

you're right, this is actually a MMOFPS, not the least an RPG...

btw, anyone spotted the simularity between Gears of war's weapons and Huxley's weapons? I have and it's friggin annoying...

EDIT: why has a weapon discussion turned into an discussion on whether this is an rpg or not? It's not... it clearly says on all ad's "The first MMOFPS - with 5000 players online facing each other"...........

hmm... smells like a bunch of whiny liberals in here... anyway...

well, in huxley you get a guy, customise him/her, get experiance and level up... sounds like an rpg to me.

you should be able to upgrade your gun... put sights on, different barrels (accuracy, weight, range, length of gun), different stocks (for weight, concealability, and recoil), foregrips, bipods, shields? (like a big metal plate on the front of the gun, helping block headshots?) lightweight bodies (makes gun initially aim quick, but higher recoil) heavy bodies, initially slow to aim, but can fire accurately longer.

it all balances itself out in the field.

well from what i have seen i think that depening on your class you have options considering weapons.. ive seen a clip were a player has a grenade launcher and a rocket launcher.. but the again ive seen a clip where the player has a sniper rifle and a "normal" assault rifle.

so really i think its up to what class you pick.

Im going to have to agree with alpha. Its pretty much and rpg/fps. You get to level and customize your character and you shoot people in first person.

Feel free to argue with me I will stay open minded and listen but I will disagree with you if I beleive your wrong.

I think this red vs blue quote is somewhat relevant.

Anyway this RPG vs FPS is a load of bull. Not many newer RPG's are straight up RPG's. Alot of the good ones have FPS components, which is similar to Huxley but huxley is a MMOFPS with an RPG element. Why would you make a purely MMOFPS. You could have fun playing a cheaper straight up FPS. Its the interactivity and Role Playing that make it fun and interesting. The FPS element at
