Default Armour Location

Will the armour location affect the damage you take?

If u have crappy leather armour for example, then u take a shot to the armour, do you take more damage because the armour sucks at that spot, or is a percentage of the damage simply taken off by the sum of all the armour you have on?

Doubt it will be that realistic. It will probably be like, you have an amount of armor and that amount of armor counts no matter where the projectile hits you. Simple reason to why i think so is:
With no doubt the helmets will have defense, that defense is no designed to defend your head but it adds to your total defense cause i doubt that the factor of helmet will do you much less damaage when you take a headshot, unless it's some skill or something that is added to your helmet which makes it not defense. SO if there is any defense factor on the helmet it doesn't really matter where you hit, i mean the location of the armor to do it's damage. It would be simple FPS system, if you hit legs it does less damage, body normal and head high damage. The total amount of armor will only decide how much damage that would be in that lower legs chest or head, in this case from normal bullets cause it game sometimes it takes 2 headshots from Assault Rifle or anything else but sniper rifle to lay down your enemy with one headshot.
Hope you understand what i mean.

I think the location of the armour probably will matter, take Rainbow 6 Vegas for instance, if a guy is whereing anaconda armour on the chest and you shoot him in the chest it takes a while to kill him, but if you shoot him on his defenceless legs then he'll die.

I'm really hoping that no amount of head armor can protect from a one headshot sniper kill. But I think it will be like insanerussian said, except legs MEDIUM damage, chest HIGH damage, and head=dead :D

I hope they won't make it like most games like that. Getting shot in the leg will not kill you. I mean, you get sniped in the foot, all of a sudden you flat line? Lame in my opinion.

Well yeah i mean if you get sniped in the foot the only thing that probably will happen is that you will have only one foot left, the other one will be playing superman. I mean you can get killed by any shot anywhere in reallife but that just depends on how much time it takes. I mean if you lose your leg with one sniper shot you will be in shock yelling like crazzy or just dont even notice that your leg is gone and keep shooting enemies, that's the state of shock. But you will never die directly from one shot in the leg no matter if it was a tank, as long as everything else is left except the leg.
So i agree with Guyver it's very stupid if you die from one shot in the leg.

Ahh well if its like Quake / UT, you could get some über helmet with 40000 armor for example. Then u get shot in the chest with no armor, but don't get any more dmg because you have a good helmet.

It seems "unrealistic", but now that I think, who is going to look where enemy has armor and where not if you're jumping and running around trying to hit the enemy somehow.

I hope you won't have to lead the enemy because it has 500 ping... would suck badly.

That had that in America's Army the game... Where the icon goes yellow if you go below 50% HP and you slow down cant run very fast, if you got below 25% HP the icon goes red and you go very slow and can you bleed to death. But that game wasn't been fast paced, if you jump out where there is nothing to cover you you are dead in few secs. That game was about lots of camping and realism. SO i doubt they will have this feature in Huxley since it's fast paced and if you go slow you are as good as dead.
Had the same idea but that's why i said nothing about it =)

That's what i pretty much meant, that the helmets defense goes into overall defense. But still the spots on the body will recieve damage like legs chest and head in different amount no matter if you have armor there or not. Armor just decided ho much damage it does. More or less.

i think the only place that shud deal more dmg over the whole body is the head everything else shud count on how much Hp u have and armor

well... seeing as how u equip the armor, i would assume if u didnt equip a peice of armor(I.E.; leg slot) you would take more damage in the defencless position than a position with armor... so yea, its almost no doubt that the damage you take will be different for different portions, when dealing with different armor(or none at all) 0.o

not to mention that this is going to be a MMOFPSRPG, so making it as real as possible w/o going too far would probly be more effective; therefor more likly

that would be a bit of a problem... everybody will buy 1 peice of the heaviest armor, then have the rest light.. taking advantage of this would be disruptive..

and from what im aware of, all classes have the same health; its just the armor that splits them apart
