Default Weight

I hope each item has a weight to it to make people who carry the biggest weapons and the biggest armor the slowest not just based on class it would be tactical to choose what you carry like a huge rocket launcher would weigh more that a smg would be good for the phantoms to carry light things to move really fast

what do you think?

I think that's their general idea. They said the phantom will be the light armor quick class so I can only assume that they'll move faster than a big heavy enforcer.

As to the specific guns weighing people down when you carry them, I don't know if they'll do that. If it's going to be like UT then they might not have the guns make a difference but rather more focused on if you're wearing heavy or light armor. And I think in the videos they show guys jumping around with rocket launchers so if there is a difference, I don't think it will be to big (like being forced to walk when you take out your rocket launcher).

I hope weight will effect walking/running, and I reeeeally do hope it won't be like in counter strike, where you can pull out your knife and run faster because a knife weight less than a rifle

Well normaly people who care haevy weapons and armor have higher weight limit which can be increased by putting you stat points into strenght.

Anyhow having weight in my opinion is a great thing cause otherwise it would be weird, or at least some inventory limit that you can't take too many items at once cause why otherwise you will be having a chest at your apartment to store things in?

though that is the case w/ most MMO's, this is also a FPS... one in which webzen has released little info about... all they've said was that heavier armor effects speed... nothign about maximum weight, normal item weight, or even weapon weight for that matter. 0.o

and the whole inventory thing... there are very few photo's of the inventory... most are blurry a bit, but from what ive seen... theres about 40 slots of inventory.

Well in the most games it's like that, that when you have bigger or smaller weapon it doesnt acctually matter, cause whats the difference in what you have in your hand? Since the weight is coming from your backpack.

I brought this up before, and there are a few things we know are in place to deal with this. First, the three classes will have different base speeds to start with. Why does this matter? Well, for a phantom to obtain license for heavy weapons it takes them a HUGE number of points compared to an enforcer, thus they will not have the same battle potential even if they move a bit faster.

We should be able to assume that the same goes for armor, but I hesitate when it comes to speed/weight. If you spend the extra to go for heavier armor on a phantom (probably a rediculously silly thing to), do you have to take a mobility hit for every piece you wear as well? For one, light armors will have the double jump/speed abilities attatched to them, not heavy armor.

Sure, seeing encumberment in game would be interesting; but I cant seeing the impact being worth the time with what they already have planned to balance things.

Well heavy armo isn't heavy for nothing so is the light armor. Not only the difference in defense amount but in most games i played if there is heavy then it is heavy and if the armor is light then it simply is light. Hoping for not having weight limits and such is the same as hoping for not having ammo.

first off... classes dont have different speeds. speed is determined by armor.

all players start off w/ med armor and a weapon(maybe a gadget), and build twards a class(this means you dont pick a class to start as) and the three classes they did release are only the E3 test samples, as webzen has said, they will add more classes.

Well yeah i've played games where you start off with same stats and can start with only one character, the only difference are Male/Female. After you lvl up and choose what to be, mage - ranger - melee fighter and so on. So they might do the same way in here too.

But its still essentially phantoms get light armor cheap, avenger mid, and enforcer heavy.

That would mean that there is only one license for everything you wear, a bit disappointing, but hopefully there are other things to equip that dont count as armor, or else everybody will end up wearing the same stuff and look identical.

Well the weight of things can be too high anyhow cause i bet everybody will be going around with lots of thingsin their inventory that they use very often.
And about the armour looking i bet the sockets will make the armor or weapon appear different. all though the best armors and weapon gotta look the same, like in WoW.

I really hope there isn't one top armor set and weapon to match that everyone gets. That really makes the game lame in my opinion. It just shows that the developers didn't put time into making a bunch of different high end things that can fit other peoples play style and make everyone look different so it doesn't feel like you're fighting the same person everytime.

It's funny you mention WoW because that's exactly what they did :D. After you PvP for a while you think "hey I think i've fought this person before." But really it's someone else who has been forced into that certain type of armor and playstyle because it's the best and they have to use that armor and playstyle because that's the only way to can do well.

I was talking to one of my buddies a few days ago about how it feels like your fighting clones over and over, almost as bad as fighting NPC guards because everyone has the same armor, weapons and play style. That makes it very boring.

Hopefully Huxley will have a huge amount of high end armor and weapons to let people play how they want, giving a very diverse look to the population as well as a really diverse way of all the fighting that people do.

Personally, i say screw the huge numbers of "high end weaponry" let weaponry progress in power yes, but don't place too much of an emphasis on it. I think you should be most effective with the weapons you specialize in. So two pro's could be walking around one with say, an incredibly powerful weapon, and the other with a nice light one they specialized a ton in. a headshots a headshot after all ^_^. besides, a flakk cannon might as well be a party streamer in the hands of someone who hasn't specialized in it.
