Many people would disagree with me on this point and call it a "time waster" but I think it's an important part of what made Planetside interesting to me, and hopefully is taken into consideration in Huxley. What I'm referring to is how you enter and exit vehicles and are able to view the inside of them. There are individual animations for getting in and out of each seat in each vehicle in the game, and each vehicle has some kind of detailed interior that you can view.
What I've seen from in-game trailers is looking good on this aspect, but if anyone knows for sure please do speak up. I'd hate to think of vehicles in Huxely working like those in any of the Battlefield games where you warp into it magically. It really isn't a time waster in my eyes; it's immersion. |

Those were scripted scenes so it's not certain they will work that way. On a bad note, previous UT tournament games always did the magic warp, so one can hope that this new engine doesn't do it like this, however you might not want to get your hopes up on that point.

They should make it an option in the options if you would like to warp inside the vehicle or animation. I like the idea of the being able to see the interior of the car I like that.

They actually released a few vehicle types. There's a link in the news forum to an article about it. There was also a link somewhere around here to a place that had the pics hosted. The only one we've actually seen driven was the hoverbike. The rest are just from vids.

I also think it would be cool if you could see the interior or/and the exterior maybe in the future they can make it so we can customize both? But probaly not just a thought.
Oh and heres the vehical link http://www.huxleysource.com/index.php?page=vehicles I have a question too. Are there going to be vehicals like the Hummer in UT not just for transport but like one guy drives the other guy is on a turret type vehicals? |

Ya in halo 1 if you where sitting in the passenger seat it would be first person, that was the best splitscreen then go off giant cliffs seeing it all in first person.

All I'm hoping for is some quality vehicle-based immersion. None of this get close, hit a button and warp inside junk. That kind of thing has always irked me in the games that use it. Those games, however, were not of MMO quality like Planetside, which turned away from the warping. I can only hope Huxley takes the same path.

Other people should be shown actually loading up as you say, i just hope it doesnt go to a cut scene for your own boarding, i wnat it to be seamless and i do not want to leave 1st person view at all when playing.

If said 'foot-slogger' had a carefully aimed shot at the apc's wind-shield would it go through?...or just count as a hit on the vehical? Now that I think about it, staying in first person while boarding a vehicle would be best. Images of a squad storming out of an APC guns drawn and ready to go come to mind. Perhaps your only "link" to the vehicle could be the seat that you sit in; every other motion would be done by you, such as walking into the open APC door and approaching the seat. And you just disengage from the seat to be able to move.

You asked about headshots through windshields. In UT2004 you could take somebody's head off with a headshot through the windshield. The programming was there in 2k4 for this kind of thing, there's no reason to think otherwise for the 2007 engine that Huxley uses. On the other note, there don't seem to be alot of windshields from what I saw to shoot through. Though come to think of it i don't remember seeing the front of that apc except for that one vid. Meh, i'll have to go watch it again.
