Hi im new to Huxley but it looks very very fun.. I play alot of FPS like CS 1.6 CS source, Half Life, UT2003, UT 2004, Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2. and im pretty decent at most FPS.
However I recently quit WoW and am looking for a fun MMO game. WoW takes no skill to play and while I played WoW I got into PvP majorly. So what I want to know is... is Huxley going to be a PvP(player vs player?) game? Or will you just have to grind mobs to lvl up? I saw that there will be instanced pvp combat but Im hoping that there is alot of PvP regardless between the alternatives and Species. ? |

Research is your friend. There is already a lot of information around, much of it on this site if you take the time to look.
To answer your question though, it will be a PvP game but with a strong PvE element included. PvE and PvP have seperate progression mechanisms, if you only PvE eventually you will hit a brick wall. To develop yourself fully you need to be blowing holes in some real people. Take a look here; an article that concentrates on the PvE but does suggest certain things about the balance between the two aspects. http://www.huxleygame.com/huxley_preview_gamespy01.htm

or you could just be friendly and awnser the man.
Huxley will be alot of PvP to gain xp you can: PvP PvNPC and Quest They all give xp. I can allso tell you that the XP won't give you Stamina or stuff like in WoW they give you talent points (or what ever they are called) You use them to gain new stuff like 3 points = Shotgun weapons or better armor or stuff like that. but a level 20 has the same Hp as a level 1 which is what makes it so interesting ^^ |

Err you do get "xp" of a different sort from PvP, there are two seperate progression systems, one for pve one for pvp. You gain stuff in one or both depending what you spend your time doing. Only PvE and you wont be getting and PvP rewards and vice versa.

Real people suck. Computers can be programmed to get better and make it harder. Killing the same dumbass that doesn't know what end of the gun the bang comes from isn't the best experience.
As for staying at level 10 and owning noobs, well if that's what floats your boat go for it. Personally I like some challenge in my games.

Actually I was completely serious. Game developers make the AIs of npcs they way they do because it wouldn't and isnt fun to play against an AI that doesn't have alot of restrictions put on it. (Or simply parts being left out)
It would be exceedingly easy to program an AI to go after the highest value weapon (Usually a nuke or sniper rifle) and have a path node up to a vantage point overlooking a spawn area. After that, instead of putting in a massive delay for target aquisition and a heavy penalty of accuracy as well as where the AI aims, make the AI actually shoot straight and at normal speed (For it). What you get? An ai that will grab a sniper rifle or a redeemer, sit above where you snipe and a few milliseconds after you spawn take you out with a nuke or a headshot. Your reaction times and computer lag wouldn't even register that you were alive long enough to move. Get my drift? AIs are generall stupid yes, but like I said, they can easily be made to be more difficult, decision trees aside. I'm not even going to ask which fps' you've tried on their hardest.

But you see, that's the good thing, we probably won't have to choose PvP-only or PvE-only.
Personally, I wouldn't play it if EITHER component was left out. PvP is fun, but quests and storyline is just as much fun for me. And if you still don't get Felix12g's drift....I'm not even going to try. I highly doubt you destroy the computer on the highest difficulty on every FPS, but whatever. I'd say more, but it's nearly impossible to decipher what the hell you are saying.
