The only way I could see the escaping capture thing work is if it was more of a tutorial mission kind of thing. It could teach you the basics and lead you through a mission of escaping from wherever you are (possibly captured already by some crazy people, or in the wilderness trying to get to a city, and on the way to the city you learn the basics).

They have mentioned "Arena-style" areas that won't be XP-based where you can fight in more traditional small-scale fights, they haven't mentioned whether these will be intra-faction only, or inter-only, or what.
We haven't gotten confirmation of any cities outside the 3 main ones, just rumors that there could be others. As of now I would bet that there will be absolutely zero fighting on the streets in these main cities. I'm guessing either there will be some sort of "city guards" style thing to stop it instantly, or maybe you won't even be able to fire your weapon (or it could just magically not have any effect who knows). But these rumored "outpost town" areas -- should they even exist in the game -- would theoretically be a lot more likely to allow more open combat and/or factions mixing within or fighting over it. In the end we're still just speculating for the most part... but those are my best guesses. Oh and as for that crazy mission idea, what if the people shooting didn't actually kill the "escapees", but they still got XP credit based on how much damage they did? That way it still gives the intense atmosphere for the runners without them getting slaughtered, and still gives a reason for people to even bother shooting. The question then of course becomes how much xp you wanna give for a freebie mission like that in the first place, and whether any higher levels would even bother since it likely wouldn't do much toward leveling compared to PVP'ing. As to the mad dash under heavy high level fire. If they ever wanted to put something like that into the game (probably not, but I think it would be really fun for both sides lol). They could have the high levels pick up the mission, then everyone in the general area gets grouped together in the quest all at the same time (kind of like the quest system that warhammer: age of reckoning will have). I would say that the low levels should respawn right where they died if not a little further ahead in the run (just so they can always make it to the fort no matter what). This way the higher levels are pretty much just giving them a hard time for a bit, but not really effecting the game too much. As for exp. they could just give a general amount of exp. to everyone who participated. |

Release got pushed back to 2008. Hopefully early 2008. And I think they said they plan on having beta this december (I'm not sure, that's just what I heard). So maybe we'll get some more info once it gets closer to beta time or once beta has been out for a bit

if this is true (I wouldn't think so, but hey what do I know) I'm wondering why there hasn't been a lot of talk about it. I'm also wondering why the beta for xbox has already been released when the actual game is released later than the PC version. If it really has been released so early for the xbox I would like to see some people talking about it on the forums. Since they could answer a HUGE amount of questions.
__________________________________________________ ___ Starting in a city would be ok I guess. Actually I'm going to make a new thread about it, since the topic of this one is "Outside Of The Cities" lol and has nothing to do with starting areas. |

Webzen hasn't said anything official in awhile. They keep updating the website every 6 months or so, and that date gets pushed back, so I guess you could call that a "delay". But frankly they haven't made any real media statements promising a release date, so I'd still just consider it up in the air at this point. Maybe this Christmas, maybe next Spring (hopefully earlier though), but who knows.
