There was an MMORTS game I used to play where the objective was for one side to take control of all the areas of the other side's. Each area would be a big fight, but there were no bases...You just had to eliminate the other team from the area and teleport to the next area. I think a good game match would be a twisted Deathmatch, where you don't respawn...When you die, you're booted out from the area and aren't allowed back in. Of course, getting a mass amount of people to queue up and join this kind of battle would be tough...but it could go as this: You have a max of 60 people who can join(each side). When one person joins the battle ground, only 59 more people can join the field. After 59 more people join, no one can join the battlefield. And again, if you already hit the battle field and die, you can't go back. It doesn't sound very fun for the people who die, but this game mode would make team work an important aspect of the game, even if it was just for this one game type.

I honestly don't think this'll work out for this kind of game. Targetting a single player not only gives people the feeling of unfairness for being "randomly chosen" but also puts them blatantly out there for anyone to shoot. Because I assume if you were to be the target, there would be some indication of your identity out in the open for people to be able to target you. Now...If say, the target doesn't have any indication, say you just have to kill people until you get lucky and kill the target, then this would be a good idea. However, the target wouldn't be allowed to know he's the target either, or that would just end up being senseless camping so the other team can't get any points, and it'd waste people's time. Not a bad idea, mind you, I just don't think it'd work out to well. |
