too true, I couldn't agree more. It's better this way because then nobody runs into the situation where thier friend wants to go play on a PvP server, but they would rather PvE only/don't want to be bothered by other players etc.

My personal opinion:
Don't turn FPS into the carebear world that WoW has created. Every server should be PvP between the races no matter what...evolve or die.

but now im getting kinda confused here, i thought the game was all about to kill the other faction eh ? or im going to grind stupid AI mobs? - i know there is hybrids ofc, but i thought they was a very small part and not the major part of the game? anyway i want to go around with a fear of someone sniping me from a roof, or getting backstabed ect... looking behind ur back every 30 sec to see if anyone is there trying to kill ya, have the sound turned all up to get a better sound of where ur enemy's are even when i kill hybrids... fighting the other faction for a good place to hunt hybrids as well.. ect ect ect. PvP should not be restricted by battlefields, zones, etc..., that's just lame. You should be able to attack an enemy, anywhere...at any time. Enemies should be able to organize and try to raid towns, bases, fortifications, etc...that's what it's all about. Maybe you can fight them off, or maybe not...who knows. Just don't transmogrify FPS into the carebear BS that all the mainstream MMORPG's have become.

At any rate, there seem to be 3 main categories that apply to both FPS and RPG, and they are as follows: Carebear: opposes PvP of any sort, even if it's just friendly competition with a friend. wants only to go storyline and PvE content without being bothered by other players. carebare players of the FPS genre traditionally enjoy the single player campaign modes of thier FPS games, a good example being the single player FPS Metroid Prime for game cube, and a few good examples of an FPS with multiplayer enabled modes but have good single player campaigns that such players enjoy would be Halo, Aliens Vs. Predator 2, and Doom 3. (FPS does not always mean PvP) Consensual PVPers: These people enjoy PvP, however at thier leisure, meaning it has to be consensual between all participating, no PvP out of nowhere or catching anyone unaware that there is player-controlled enemies. These types usually enjoy Consensually played Deathmatches, CTF matches and the like against human opponents when they feel like PvPing. Sometimes they'll like to jump into free for all arena areas when playing an MMO for the fun of it. While this category does enjoy PvP, they do not want to have to worry about PvP all the time so much as PvP at thier own leisure and consent. Hardcore PvPers: This category would prefer nowhere to be safe, and wants the possibility of PvP to be found anywhere, sometimes to the extreme that they want only human players to exist and no computer controlled or scripted opponents of any kind; such PvP extremists want PvP to be able to occur whether or not thier opponent likes it, even if they are the ones being caught off guard. Personally I fit into the consensual PvPer category so alot of instanced stuff works out just fine for me, I'm sure to appease everyone there will be certain entire territories where anyone may enter without warning and attack other players in that territory (all out all PVP enabled areas pretty much), also possibly some PvE missions where the two opposing sides are working to capture the same resource or objective - I'd say it's likely to catch the opposing team off guard while they are trying to haul the mission objective off to thier side. - Sephie Last edited by Sephina; 24-02-2007 at 12:22 AM. |

well, now im going to hope there is going to be some pvp servers where u can attack at will... and it would be nice to get some info about how much pvp and pve there will be and how the pvp is going to wkr and at what scale, not really worth waiting so long to find out that the pvp system is not for me :S
it is a fps games after all ? fps nowdays is deathmatch arena's where u kill other ppl.. u dont even exspect to see a AI monster.... but i guess maybe huxly will take a steb back and give some ppl the old fasion single player killing monsters stuff, at the same time? im really hoping for some detaled announced about this really soon! or im starting to look around for another game :( -------------------------------------------------- as spehine say then she is a consensual PvPer , and i think the major part of players today go under the same thing, so i wouldt be suprised if that is how its going to be?! I think some instanced missions should be PvP where 2 sides are trying for different objectives. Not like the huge battles that are supposed to occur but small matches like 16v16.

yeah i know that, but my question now is how big a part of this game is going to be pve only? i mean yeah i know there is a world where u can attack at will, but how big will it be compared to the pve only places? and will u also be able to pve in the free world as well as pvp?
if the "free world" is pvp only, and the places u kill hybryds and such is pve only... then i do find the "free world" a pvp arena, just in a big scale... ppl will allways exspect to be attacked there bc thats what supposed to happend, the thing im looking for is killing hybrids and all of sudden a enemy faction come up and start fighting with him. but yeah u got a point still, and no i dont think the "free world" is going to be small at all, i just dont hope there is going to be pvp places and pve places |

I think the best solution to please all sides would be to approach it like Eve does: Non-PVP areas, partial PVP areas (you can PK a player but there are AI controlled mobs that will hunt you down if you do so) and full PVP areas (battlefields). |

I can see how the game would work with specific areas where PvP is not allowed, but at the same time, one can only hope for a FFA Server, where everywhere is free game, just certain areas come with strings attached (ala city guards, etc.)
The game looks amazing so far and I've been excited by it ever since I read about it a year or so ago. Can't wait. |

i think the best solution would be that you can turn pvp on when ever you want and once turned on you have to wait 20mins to turn it off. so the everyone is happy you the pvp players can hunt each other and the pve player can do there own stuff without getting killed from nowhere.

Then it would be kinda pointless...
Exhibit A Syn gets attacked by Alternix group Alternix: Ha ha we got you now! Syn: (uh oh they'll kill me! there's only one thing to do) Computer: *Blip* an00b has turned off pvp Alternix: You cowardly n00b! Exhibit B Alternix raid group preparing to attack a small town Alternix leader: Ok you turn your pvp off and scout and tell us what's in there Alternix scout: Ok 10 mins later Alternix scout: *gives info on the baddies because they couldn't kill him* Alternix leader: CHARGE!!! 5 mins later The town is in ruins there is no one left... If this is what's going to happen then I think NO PvP flags; you're out of the large city? Oh then you're Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo Echo Delta.

I think that the only non pvp paces should be in the two main cities everywhere else should be free game. That would make it where you at least have one safe haven but once you leave watch out.
