Huxley P2P

Well i used the search butten on p2p and nothing came on that. Anyhow i thought since it's huge MMO i really doubt it would be something like Guild Wars where you play for the game and never again. I bet Huxley will be another p2p game. If you wonder what p2p stands for: Pay To Play. Mostly like in WoW and other huge MMO games. I will still play it unless it would be for Vista only.

Sorry mate, from what I have read and seen it looks like a go for Vista and a no go on XP. I hope I am wrong though.
Becasue I feel we would loose many good posters here if that was the case. But many will still upgrade for it. Its just unfortunate that some better people wont or cant afford it. Luckily I won my copy before it came out in a buisness drawing or I would be in the same boat.

Unless Vista will be cheaper then now then it's fine, and fully working. Otherwise i can wait, i still got highschool so there is no comparison about how much important it is then the game i guess i'll be enoying old school games. Still love Diablo 2 despite the graphics.

i think its goin to be f2p(free to play) cause its like guild wars u meet in city and mostly everything else is instanced but its still goin to be awsome

In my understanding p2p means peer to peer, which Huxley won't be doing. This game is most likely going to be pay to play, the price is the only uncertainty.

Iam also getting a very strong feeling it will be pay to play. But it is made by Koreans and they're known for getting their moneez by dirty little tricks such as "give me $10 and I'll let you have this sweet weapon thats only available to people who buy crap" or "Upgrade and have more content than every1 else". Yet, Iam not thinking they'll do that.

Kenbark, here's what I don't get: VERY many people does not have Vista, and because it's so expensive, very many people will also not BUY vista if this game requires it.
Then why should the Developers be like "Oh, let's have this game be exclusive to Vista instead of having it compatible with the much more used operating systems! It's genious!"?

Anyhow the trick Kcirreda was talking about are used in minor MMORPG games which doesnt have many features. But tbh for me it's better to be p2p then with those ugly small tricks. Cause with p2p you sit putt but with tricks you consider "To buy or not to buy"

It's how me brain works. I see things very black and white. Either I like it, or I hate it with all my heart. And right now, Vista tops my hate list.

Not only is it ridicolusly expensive, it's also buggy as hell and full of holes for hackers and virus makers to take advantage of, and as a very paranoid guy, the virus threat makes me not even want Vista if it was free! It'll take years to fix everything! That's why I think it would be stupid of Webzen if they did this.

Not to mention, as someone said in another topic that I don't have time to dig up again: The only point of making it Vista, is because of DirectX 10, and there's not many games that require that out yet. And afaik, Huxley will run fine on DirectX 9

Well tbh in vidios and screenshots i didn't see any graphics that would requires DirectX 10. Plus the Vista doesnt have anything that couldn't be done on XP. The release Vista just to earn money from naiv people who think that Vista is good. It might be good after 2 years or so but for now... Forget it.

Really, why wouldn't they make it pay to play? With the obvious success that other games have had with this method, see WoW, it would be a bad business decision to not do it.

So they lose a handful of people who don't want to cough up the cash. Oh well, they're going to get that group of really dedicated players who will be willing to shell out the cash for years.

Well yeah it is obvious to me that it would be p2p but i thought maybe people heard some other info about this. Maybe in the start it wont b p2p and only later when game gets more popular.

I want this game to be Pay to Play. That gives the developers a constant flow of money, which opens for more and faster bug fixes, updates and eventual expansions.

Well Benny is right in a way but i believe that they are getting enough money already from all of the sponsores. So Zeeky is also right ^^

Well, it worked with Blizzard. Very good flow with bugfixes and patches there, good response time and help from GM's and all.
Only bad thing about them is that they never sent radioactive explosive ninja chipmunk squads to take care of all the botters, hackers, goldsellers, goldspammers, powerlevelers and exploiters as I always hoped they did.
I lost my patience, that's the main reason I quit :D

I own vista ultimate. NEVER have had a problem. NEVER have had a virus. had it since a month after it came out. for about 1 week there were issues, then the updates came in and uh, nope. no issues. runs everything faster on my comp than it was before.

if your 64 bit, you do vista. if not, you should probably wait. many forums i'm on have been saying lately that 32 bit is where vista bites the big monkey. Compatibility issues spring up everywhere in 32 bit vista.
