They shouldn't wait until next year if they want to optimize their playerbase as high as possible. If they do that they will have too much competition to even really be a major player in the industry. With Planetside systematically dying yes they will pretty much be a monopoly on their specific genre. If they were smart they'd aim for a early November release. At that point I figure a lot of people will be getting bored of H3 and start looking for a new FPS with long-term playability.
Releasing this game only for Vista would be the stupidest possible thing they could do, they would lose out on a lot of customers. Crytek is playing it smart, and even though the only Vista and DX10 will get the most out of their game, they are still optimizing it for XP and DX9. Back to my original point, they'll have a lot of trouble if they release next year even though we don't have much in the way of FPS's as far as I know. Next year has three absolute guaranteed colossuses. SC2, WAR and Fallout 3. SC2 alone should make any game developer *bleep* themselves. Since H3 is going to be just for 360 at least for the next two years, I'm sure if they were to release this about a month or so after it they wouldn't have much of a problem. Crysis's multiplayer doesn't really look like anything that hasn't already been done either. Crytek has already said that the single-player campaign will be about 10-12 hours too. Which is nothing because Twilight Princess was like 45 hours for the average person and most people beat it within a week or so. So shorten that to about 2-3 days for Crysis. I'd say they should release before WAR which is scheduled for Q1 2008 at this point, and that's when it will probably get here since EA is no doubt pushing on Mythic to get it out. If they do that they can probably get a good established playerbase and many people won't then leave for WAR. |

Well you don't have to think about what the games are called, only the point of what he is trying to say =)
Damn companies with their odd ideas of releasing it at special dates to get the best timing! >.<

Starcraft 2 and Warhammer Online:Age of Reckoning.
The former is pretty self-explanatory. The latter is an MMORPG being developed by Mythic(also known as the makers of Dark Age of Camelot). WAR is going to be a heavily-pvp focused game much in the way DaoC was(many consider DaoC to be the current pinnacle of mmo PvP-achievement). It's almost guaranteed to be a big success as it is now being financially backed by EA coupled with the idea that the majority of DaoC's playerbase will probably flock to it along with a great deal of WoW's pvp-oriented playerbase. I consider WAR to be Huxley's main opponent next year. Even though they are of different genres, Mythic is well-known and have already proven themselves to be extremely adept at the PvP aspect while Webzen is still unknown of by a decent portion of the gaming community. |

Knowing Blizzard and since they announced Starcraft 2 only two weeks ago, Webzen shouldn't have to worry too much about SC2 unless they intend to release Huxley in late 2008.
Quote:
Even though a lot of great games will be released this year, I honestly see no threat multiplayer-wise. Crysis (IMO, the sp seems more attractive and well...the map editor), Bioshock (yet again, the sp), Assassins Creed (another sp game), etc. You are right that Webzen will lose a lot potential players if they release it in 2008, although I sure hope they do not release their retail version full of bugs in order to release it in 2007. Unfortunately, we just have too few information on the game. |

I don't know... Starcraft 2 might not even come out in 2008. Blizzard has never had a problem with making people wait and making their games absolutely perfect. They said SC2 has been in development since Warcraft 3's Frozen Throne expansion, so another year or two won't be anything for Blizzard. Regardless of how long it takes, we know that SC2 will be a great game. Back to Huxley tho. Besides WAR, the market will be totally open from what we know now. Huxley has big shoes to fill, and we can all hope it does that spectacularly.

On these forums pple like me (who have been active members since March 06 (i think i joined) is you dont get your hopes up cus Huxley tends to do that only to shoot them down lol. ex. back in Nov/Dec 05 (i belive) they were saying Huxley Summer 06', here's what we got in the summer of 06' (a couple video's and interviews.) After that their really was no information at all...I checked E3 07 for Huxley but couldnt find anything. Tired of all the same ?ions i stopped posting on forums, (i tho occasionally would patrol the forums to see if any updates occured.) and finally all of a sudden the site opens and we get more "interesting" vids. They say Q1 of 08 and I pray thats the exact date but guys dont set yurselve's up for a letdown. lol i normally just play other games till the time comes....ex. BF2, o and i know am in Tabula Rasa beta, if anyone else is in beta im : Herger Hillian Europe1 Server

I don't think I could play another MMORPG. at least not for a while. It's fun sometimes, but you have to play for so long to see anything really cool.
Like I played WoW for 2 years and it was fun with my friends when the game first came out. But after that, even with me being on almost all the time, I only got to be part of a few things that I remember as being awesome. Hopefully the huge battles of Huxley will provide for an awesome day of gaming everyday :D

Yeah there was a little doubt about the 100vs100 for a little. But now it's been confirmed that there will be 100 vs 100 battles.
I hope I'm right too
