Huxley Game, Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter Game, MMOFPS

Ok, this discussion happens over alot of topics, and I'm having trouble keeping track of it. I've got windows XP, and I'm not paying out lots of cash for Vista in order to play this game.

I'm not very good in discussions because my mild braindamage has me need everything explained simply. I do not understand even half of the tech-chat going on, so I'll need a simple and precise answer (yes or no will do as well):

Will the PC-version of Huxley be only for Windows Vista, or can we run it on other systems as XP as well?

One thing I want to add (I've said this in another topic, but I'll add it here too in case anyone reading this aven't read that topic)

Huxley will NOT be cross-console, meaning you will not play alongside, or with, people playing the game on X-Box on a server if you're playing the PC version.
As far as I've understood, the reason it was going to be vista-only for the PC was that they planned it to be cross-console, and it had to be vista in order to make the PC network compatible with the X-Box network or something like that (I'm sort of confusing myself here)
But then, what is the point of having it Vista-only if it's not going to be cross-console? They'll only lose money on it!

I already knew that. Just didn't remember where I read it.
Thanks though, but I still don't know wether or not it's Vista only.
I also doubt it will be, but I want to make sure. I can easily live without knowing things about wether or not there'll be vehicles in the game or crap like that, but dealing with the fact that I may not be able to play a game I'm looking so much forward to, that's a real pain!

Well as long as the info isn't from the official webside... It can be bully at high rate, cause when games are to come out there are lots of rumors and most of them not correct only little bit right (good guess i say).

It's been in development since 2005
Only reason they'd make it vista only is if they wanted to make use of divx 10 but I don't think they'd redo all the graphics just to do that.

Well Lunarhawk i believe i heard that divx 10 is supported for XP too. So don't worry about that too much, i dont at least :P

lol i dont really understand what you mean but it sounds like... You sit play games and the suddenly your comp says with robot voice: "DX 9 or higher " lol.
al though when installing games it requires that you have that and then it comes out on a window where it stands that you much have DX 9 or higher. =)

i was checkin my nvida thing on my computer it was giving an over view of my computer specs and it says DX version= DX 9.0 or better

Well im planing to buy NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS which is designed to be able to co-oporate with DX10 so that would be a problem to me.
My graphic card burned out so i would like to have a new one plus very good one not NVidia GeForce 7500LE crap..

Well based off of what Microsoft is doing with their OSs I can safely say this game will most likey be for vista only.
Reasons:
1. XP will no longer be patched and supported by MS after this year.
2. Vista Live will make the game cross platform (even though it was stated in that article that it wouldnt be I dont trust it. The whole basics of this game have derived from cross platform play. Thats what was going to be so revolutionary about it)
3. Vista will be fixed and most likely lowered in price by the time huxley is launched.
4. Vista is a rather good OS it just needs some things fixed(badly). Almost every other game released when this game launchs will be for vista, because it will be the only OS that will be getting patches and support, and for an MMO you MUST have an OS that is updated regularly so that you can update your game.
5. Vista is the next line for PC gameing. People said the same thing about XP when it launched, its too expensive, I will never upgrade. However change, especially in OSs is just a fact of PC gaming. We get the best, we pay for the best. You will need to make the upgrade someday any way. Make Huxley that reason to do it faster so you arent left in the dust.
