PC Huxley - Vista Only?

I've been looking for where I saw that, I can't find it. But, outside the cities the Xbox people and thePC people seperate into two different but identicle worlds.

Well i just don't understand the meaning of crossing platforms, buy PC and you get what you want or the damn xBox, why having a cross?

I don't exactly get that either. I mean, there'll be alot of people playing both versions, and then I mean a LOT! And the amount of people per server is still the same. So basically it's no difference other than ruining the opportunity for alot of PC owners to play this game.

The idea of crossing only cities still wont make much i mean only cities, that's little bit better business for players more things vendor and such. But still just for that? that's stupid tbh.

Wait, if the server could support 10000 people, it could work.
Imagine having 5000 players, both PC and X-box players. That'd cuck bigtime, you could only play with 2500 of them. Or let's say 1250 because of the faction split.

One other thing that comes to my mind. I mean to have read that you can do raids on enemy cities here. So tecnically you could go raiding together with, and against people playing the opposite platform as you.

Alot of these things confuses me. I really don't understand how they're going to pull this off.

I haven't looked at shadowrun but unlike a single player pc or console game mmo's use a server client relationship.

Because all you are running on the pc or console is a client then they don't need xbox live or vista to make it cross platform because 2 clients are never talking to each other directly they are going through the server.

Yeah, about Shadowrun. I don't understand why THAT game had to be Vista exclusive. The graphics aren't nearly as good as Huxley's. Why did the company behind Shadowrun decide to pull that off?

Well i've seen trailers on it, the ga<mes seems to be total mess to me. Nothing special but for Vista.
Reason why they made it for Vista is probably cause they got sponsored big time.

Well normaly all companies have sponsors, in the start not many, the better the get the more sponsors come to invest money in them. So if there is a company like that they gotta have lots of sponsors.

microsoft makes it clear to it's 360 game developers that all online games must be run through thier own service of XBOXLive. it's thier way of controlling (or limiting/restraining) what you can do.

squareenix had a big issue with microsoft and actually won, implementing their PlayOnline service.

so unless webzen has their own online gaming service/program, it looks very likely that it would have to be on Vista. and all us PC players will likely have to navigate through menu's riddled with xbox button icons.

Well, as far as I've understood, there's WAY more people planning to play Huxley on PC than people getting it on Xbox.

Only 3 of 15 (so far) are getting it for Xbox.
I had a conversation with BIG pc-nerd yesterday. He told me that if Webzen would release it for Vista only, they could kiss their money goodbye. He had tried Vista, and he said it sucked bigtime.
I have much respect for nerds. They always tend to be right about what they say (atleast what's related to computers)
I mean, look at Shadowrun. How many people play that? I bet it would have a LOT more players if it was not Vista exclusive. Hell, maybe even I'd have bought it then!

No! Webzen, making Huxley Vista exclusive would be a dumb idea!


And just to add: That about Microsoft stopping the updates on XP I think is bullcrap! They just stopped updating Windows 98, so I think XP will survive for a good amount of more years.

As i mentioned it many times, Vista sucks and only things made for Vista exclusive works on Vista, that means no old school progs or games.

Well by the time Huxley is out Vista should lower in price, but since Webzen did start in 2005 they wouldn't be keeping Vista in mind right? I first heard about Vista in the late 2006 (after they had finished it). They should make it for XP and then add some sort update after you have Vista because people eventually will have to upgrade to Vista .

well loook at like this, take it back to 2001 swich the name vista and xp around and it was the same deal. xp was overprices,krappy and flimmsy, now after some time it is a cheep, well runing os, give vista a year im going to tell u the price price will go down and maybe it will be more stable. remmber MS is trying to make a revolutionary OS that will rape apple. hulxey will probley be for the vista, but by then i can probley guess u guys will have vista when it doesnt suck. i rest my case haha

Nah. We have already concluded that it can't be for Vista only, because the company wants a wide range of people to play, thus the lowest card they said that they are trying to play the game on is an Nvidia 5000.

yes, BUT as people have said, Microsoft may force Webzen to make it a Vista exclusive because of sponsorships and contracts and such. So people, get ready to plop down some serious cash for an OS that is pretty crappy (as of now). Well, if you think Vista is bad.. Anyone remember Windows 95? Lol!

No, if they do that, the game will be as bad as ShadowRun. That is a game that kinda flopped.

Perhaps i worded that last post wrong. I have no evidence, just speculation. Other games have been made vista-exclusive and I hope Webzen won't do anything like that with Microsoft.

i suppose I shouldn't have said that you should get ready to buy Vista... just keep in in your minds. And Webzen has the right to change anything they said; the game is still in development. We can just hope that they won't be stupid and make a silly little contract with Microsoft
