Well the idea of camping kinda fails if the game has rapid movement speed, which looks the case atm. You can hide behind some crates, but its pointless if your enemy can close the gap and fill your face with 20+ pounds of lead before you can line up your uber headshot. It seems that in huxley if you want to last long at all you've got to keep moving constantly much like in UT.

gears of war is with the UT engine. and it's not all cracked out and speedy. and huxley isn't cracked out and speedy. (no offense to UT, figure of speech).
anyone think about specific hit detection? 5 shots to the body are different from 5 shots to the head. or at least they should be. about ultra realism- anyone play America's Army? i only know how it is for PC. get shot in the head and you die. you can take body shots and limb shots, but it effects you're motion. you'll run slower, need medical attention, or sometimes bleed to death. but i'm almost sure huxley won't be like that last part. btw, anyone find it odd that futuristic sci-fi shooters have guns that are slower and do less damage than present day ones? and don't say it's because of futuristic armor; weapons technology will always be on top of armors. |

You have a point that weapons always counter armour
body armour then................ Armour Piercing bullets but who the hell cares about realism in a sci fi game i mean A its a game B its sci fi u cant say well in the future thats not how its gonna work and in games (which is the best part) u can make it as ULTRA REAL or as ULTRA FAKE u want and it could still be a hit and BTW if u want a TOOOOOO realistic game Play Ghost of Recon lol 1 shot in the foot U DEAD!!!!!! lol i hope thats not like Huxley i rather have 5 shots to the head ok i mean it would be fun and funny to just see 200 guys SUPER SPEEDy with HIGH jumps that have SUPER SUPER SUPER SUPER fast weapons i mean try playing Unreal Tournament when ur high lol try that lol that would be funny cause u can dodge RUN FAST SUPER FAST WEAPONS SUPER POWERFUL WEAPONS thats the ULTRA GLITCH GAME!!!!!! and i personaly like it in Huxley cause it fits the profile good story good weapons great sci fi graphics...... i hope u know what im geting at when isay WHO CARES IF ITS REALISTIC i rather it be fake lasts longer more fun (btw i hope u can dodge just like Unreal Tournament thats sICK!!) WHEW!!!!!!! |

Um... 1st off i dont mind playing against campers it makes me think. I like thinking you think off fun a creative ways to flush the campers out plus isn't huxley gonna have vehicles cant someone just park a tank in his face or something. 2nd Im a real noob i mean it ive never played UT at all well maybe a minute but not enough to know much about it. But hay if it take 50 shots or just 1 to kill someone if they make it fun ill keep playing but im am going for a 5 shot to kill someone rule i like it, it plays well and allows a good use of medic skills if they have some. Feel Free to flame me if ive said something wrong ^^

The only thing that I may dislike is if bunny hopping/straife jumping is present. Though i am a quake/UT player and love straife jumping, I don't think it belongs in this game (I'm not saying anything against UT style combat in fact im all for that, just against bunny hopping). I'd like to see a more realistic style of movement though just becuase this game, I believe should feel immersive and thats hard to achieve when someone is leaping through the air at mach 3 around ur head. Being able to take a rocket to the chest can be explaned by the armor and so on but when people are jumping like mad its hard to feel like your actually a part of the game. If I wana play quake I'll go play quake, I want this game to make me feel like im living it and i just don't see jumping around like a retarded monkey doing that for me.

They don't seem to be planning on using dodging, and I think they mentioned possibly using double jump as a skill you can acquire. Personally I don't disagree, because I think crazy movement would suck with tons of players, not to mention the stress on the cpu/network.
I'd imagine it'll be similar to ut2007 but without the wall dodging and possibly slower walking speed. |

Having it an unlockable ability is good but iof they do that it shouldnt be unlimited use, some sort of 'Stamina' or similar which it uses maybe?
The big thing with jumping aropund like a bunny on steroids is, as said the strain on the network. In a small scale game the server can accurately track player positions, but with potentially 150 people in one zone all hopping like mad, it would be hard for the server and the clients to track positions accurately which leads to filling some guy full of holes only to find he wasnt there anymore. You get seriously cheesed off but the other guy doesnt even know what happened he just thinks your a crap shot.

it might be cool if the x360 players got these crazy abilities, but they better be more than just bunny feet.
if jumping last more than .5 seconds, it becomes a predictable line of movement; hence, the player becomes easy to shoot. best example of that is tribes. i was a mad sniper on that game, and i was on 56k. |

Hmm I only remembered double jump being mentioned. Who knows what a "long jump" would entail. It could be simply a horizontal version of the jumpboots idea, where basically you could jump large gaps/distances... but clearly they would have to limit its use if that were the case. I just wonder how both clients and servers would perform if you had dozens and dozens of people on-screen at once dodging around with typical ut-style movement. It's fine for smaller numbers but I couldn't imagine hundreds of people doing that... the friendly fire alone would be insanity (which brings up a whole other discussion but that's for another thread). But who knows... deciding on and tweaking movement is what betas are for anyways.

Wait, I dont really like the idea of having to waist a whole clip on 1 enemy. Thats just ridiculous. Armor yes will become super better in the future, but dont you think that guns will also get better.
It is more realistic to have like 4 shots at the most to kill one guy. Its just more realistic. It gets rid of the stupid guys who charge up the middle blazing a heavy machinegun. This makes people more cautious and they have to think what provide the most cover so my enemy doesnt shoot me back. If this game is gona be like like UT then I am also assuming that headshots will not be involved. Headshots are one of the coolest things ever. It really shows a persons skill level ten fold. Now if this is gona be sorta like the Halo 2 system, then I am all for it. The halo 2 system has an armor system that is good, but it doesnt allow a person to be careless in a game. I dont think the game with this 50 bullets to kill 1 guy is cool. Oh also rocket launchers and flak cannons are great for killing people thats if you hit them on the first or second shot. If you miss you might as well just bend over and recieve a huge dick in your ass. |

the halo armor system DOES allow a person to be careless in the game.
rechargeable armor plus analog aiming = very easy to survive at medium distance and further. only time you see long distance kills is when the target is out in the open, and the sniper is standing still or hardly moving. also, you can be shot infinite amount of times in halo. as long as there's enough time inbetween each shot. that's kinda weak. confrontations all turn into who can spray the other guy the most, each taking damage. taking damage should not be an option. halo players don't know the concept of multiple targets at once because a single confrontation means damage. HOWEVER. if we're all fighting some horde like in starship troopers, PvE, then it's kinda viable. |
