Yeah but they should kinda fit into the setting. A hole in the wall hideout would be the coolest.

i like the idea of starting out with something like a hole in the wall (like falcon said) and then build up as your clan gets larger, maxing out with a huge castle taking up 10 blocks of the city. That would be sweet.

what would be cool is that you could make any roomy space into a guild hall. a hole in the wall could become a secret lair. A abandoned building, or maybe like a roof or tower or stuff. ^^
But the very coolest would be if they had some kind of Stragic point. so the battlefield could be the guildhall. |

Well, the problem is a guild hall will probably allow you to create an armory for your members to grab guns from. If you make your meeting locatino a hole in the wall I imagine anybody would be able to loot it (Flashback to ultima online anybody?) Besides, any place can be a meeting place for your outfit, personally a hole in the wall strikes me as a pathetic way to get people to be impressed with your outfit.
As for the battlefield as a meeting hall, you can conrtol different part of the battlefield, so if your outfit controls a mine, it would probably be in your best interest to camp it so another can't take control.

What they haven't explained is, what happens if there's 50 guilds wanting their own guild halls? I guess they suddenly have to just sorta, add a new area to the city?
To be honest that would probably be the easiest way to do it... could have a whole section just for guild halls. That way they'd only need to update that 1 area each time. They could probably even instance it and just require you to take some form of public transportation to get there. This is all assuming they'd want to make them all inside the cities. I guess I could see them having some way to give each guild hall its own little zoned type area that's separate from things. They could just make a few general templates for it and maybe include some way to randomize the terrain around it, then just let guilds choose which sort of surroundings/building they want for their hall or something. I'm not sure how/if other games have handled stuff like this before. |

No, there's limited physical space that they control. If you aren't powerful enough to control a floor of a building, tough shit.

Until we know what features would come along with a guild hall, there's way too many variables here in my opinion.
They HAVE said that guilds will be able to (to some degree) take and control persistently contested areas and gain resources from holding them, right? I wouldn't expect they would want to do the same thing with the guild halls themselves... |

They've stated info about both. At least the mines will be able to be controlled by outfits and those mines will provide income and resources to that outfit for as long as they hold it.
They have also said that outfits will be able to take control of buildings within the cities as they become more powerful and use them as guild halls and places to meet. What they haven't said is how the outfits will work together as well as rankings and such.

They said that the lunarite mines would provide an income for those who control them. So yes, that probably means money. Or a supply of lunarite to be used however.
A clan is a people connected by a common ancestor or common lineage. Why would you call a military group (IE an outfit) a clan. A guild would be closer, but since a guild is generally based around a common set of skills (Carpentry, smithing etc) maybe shooting people could be construed as something to form a guild over. This isn't an RPG people are not REQUIRED to use their terminology.

Well this has all already been said in that other thread, but clan is the term traditionally used with sci-fi FPS games, regardless of whether it makes sense or not... so there will be at least some people who are used to using that term. Others will use guild, outfit, whatever... hell there was an old "clan" that had "guild" as part of its name. But in the end, who cares really... I could start a team of players and call ourselves a tuna sandwich if I really wanted to. That's not a bad idea actually...

Quite amusing hawk. If you want, look up the shit in a dictionary, i don't care. My point, which you seem to have missed, is that it isn't required to call it anything and even "outfit" which has been used in conjunction with military groups for a long time. But good try "laddie," people will continue to call it what they want no matter how much you whine in here.

Lol, good doggy. You still missed the point about both of my posts. Let me restate it: Anybody can call the shit whatever they want.
