By a weird coinincidence I just finished Brave New World and then saw a little add about this new game. I watched the trailers and realised right off the bat that it looks nothing like the world in Brave New World but if anything more like the world of Fahrenheit 451 if even that. I don't know how this games world will connect to the one in Brave New World exspecially since in Brave New World there was no wars and as far as the book went no mention of killing bugs. Who knows though, maybe they will have some mass marketing of soma for kids to trip on while they play the game and shoot bugs. (in game that is) Oh well, it looks like a good game and maybe, possibly now it will actually take skill to kill thing in an MMORPG for a change other than completely based off your character's level.
Id like to know your guys' thoughts on how different this world is from Brave New world. |

probably the biggest reasons the game is based from the book is the class system. kk said there will be classes having level 1 to 10 be the lowest and 41 to 50 be the highest just like in brave new world. beyond that there really is no connection whatsoever but who cares huxley looks to be the hottest thing since sliced bread

I figure they'll link in the cloning with the way combat and respawning works. Other than that, as far as I can see it's just the name and the basis of fighting between natural people and those out of a test tube, which would probably be the alternatives.

It is a pity that it doesnt tie in more with Brave New World. One of my favourite books. Although there are no wars in that society there could be scope for conflict. Outside the cities the 'savages' could pose a threat to the order if they ever got too numerous so a possible way to go about it is that every 10 years or so The World State goes on a cull to keep their numbers down. Could have been interesting, with Gamma class troopers, Beta captains and alpha generals.
Still, as for the Huxley game I'd say it can still tie in to the novel. Not much is known in Brave New World about life before the formation of The World State other than there had been some kind of a cataclysmic war. This game is likely set during that very war. A good website about Brave New World here: http://www.huxley.net/ Last edited by Comrade_Boris; 06-06-2006 at 06:07 PM. |
