Xbox 360 through the headset, I can't imagine it any way else. It wouldn't make sense using a keyboard for communication.

for PC it will probably be alot like planetside... for anyone who doesnt have a headset of the ability to talk through a mike will have to type it... otherwise im sure they will have headset abilities to communicate.... 360 im cant see why they wouldnt use headsets, there not really any other way for it.

Yea for 360 there is no other means of cummunication, unless the creators put in combos for hand signals. As for PC, if you don't have a mic, try not to choke while typing and shooting.

You can plug a keyboard and mouse into the 360, but so far they can't be used to control the Player Character. However, as far as I know, the keyboard can be used to type in information, i.e. naming an enchanted weapon you just made, though I doubt it would be used for communication.

Are you serious? If so all I have to say is Fatality with KeyBoard > Ogre 2 with controller 1v1 (Some of you may not get that).

They would have to use mics for the 360. There's no way every console gamer who does not have a keyboard is going to go buy one just to play Huxley. Of course, I have a keyboard for my 360 so I'm set no matter what they do, although I prefer to use a Mic.

I think I read from one of the pieces on E3 that they will use voice comms similar to those used in CS & BF2 , so that would translate to the 360 as well.

Good point though, anyone played FFXI (the MMOG one) on the 360? How does that handle communication between players with regards to things like finding people for groups, recruiting for clans, selling stuff, asking for help and the like?

Played it on PC side before and after the console versions were out. If you were grouped with a console player you knew it. They took forever to type out anything with their controllers. Any higher end groups that got stuck with a console user usually didn't do well due to the macros and the precise timing needed for alot of the fighting.

As for the rest, finding groups, selling things etc. it went alot slower with console users until they got things macro'd. In towns it wasn't so bad with them.

I just hope they have some audible emotes on shortcuts. Being able to say Hi or ask for help without having to go into chat mode is pretty useful, and voice comms don't always make it easy to tell which squad member is screaming for a medic

USB keyboards work fine for the Xbox 360. I've got one and use it.

Anyway...
Voice in a MMO? Brings a new meaning to spam... A whole world of pain.

If XBOX 360 and PC are on the same servers i cant imagine why they both wont use mics. But then again i cant imagine why they both wont use keyboards (xbox has an on screen keyboard too :/ )

Ever play counterstrike? Rarely is anything tactical shared over the mic unless it's relavent to who did your mother the night previous, or how much you suck.

Frankly, it won't matter what the hell they do because the majority of serious gamers will be on a guild vent/TS server reguardless of what form of communication they put in game. Also, as far as console gamers communicating? Who cares. It was either EGM or CGW, but the article stated that console gamers of huxley would not be participating in the same battle fields as the PC users. For one, there's no way the xbox could handle the 100 on 100 battles, let alone if the bugs decide to show up and issue the beat down. The only interaction would be in town, and possibly for missions where one player (on a console) has to make a delivery fo a weapon or item to a contact of the other faction. (On a PC) If this is true, than it eliminates the need to really communicate with a player on a console.

As far as I'm concerned though, and this will most certainly come off as a very close minded statement: I am all for the segregated servers. I don't want to have to be gimped so that the console jockeys have a chance, I don't want to have to struggle through communicating, I certainly don't want to listen to your laggy voice as you make an attempt to use your POS Microsoft USB headset. As it stands right now, with the information we've aquired, I have no intentions of interacting with console gamers unless I absolutely must.

I think that the mic for an MMO would be horrid. However, perhaps microphone communication within your squad, and your squad only, would be very useful, and allow for almost 0 annoyance. Anyone outside of the squad would have to type it.

Xbox and PC users won't be grouped into the same battle (PC users would screw console users over), or so I would imagine. In the same server, with trading and such: sure.
