Default Gaming Mouse

Alright,

I'm getting a new computer soon, even though I'm really sure the one I have now could run Huxley. Going to be probably 4 GB Ram, 250 GB Hard Drive, 3.0 GHZ or 3.2 GHZ processor, 256 MB Video card, and so on. However, I have a big question:

Anyone know of a good mouse I should use?

I haven't played PC shooters before, but decided I'm going to play Huxley on PC instead of Xbox 360 (since it will be released sooner). Preferrably one that hooks in via USB ports, since my computer will probably have 8 million of those and no standard mouse ports.

Thanks in advance,

-Silenoz666

The most used mice around gamers nowadays are probably these, with some variations to the exact model.

* Logitech MX518 Optical Gaming Mouse

* Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0

* Razer Copperhead

* Razer Diamondback

So I think that you could start by looking into those, they are all great for gaming so in the end the best way to choose a mouse is the one that feels the best in your hand. Competative gamers also tend to use a mouse with wire, not the wireless ones. Lost contact only for a split second is often enough to get yourself killed in a quick FPS-game.

Good luck!

Thats about right, only thing I would say is watch out for the Razers... they are one of those things that you either love or hate, personally i hate them... they force your hand into a very awkward position that they claim improves control but I cant see it myself, however others swear by them.. problem is they are quite expensive and I know of a fair few that have been consigned to the bin because of the weird shape.

With regards to the logitech v microsoft.. ive used both and both are good but i prefer the logitech as its got a bit more weight to it and dosnt trap household dust and debris in the sensor, whereas i found the MS one would do that occasionaly and send your cursor haywire.

Alright, so don't get a wireless mouse.

Are these all track ball-style, or standard?

I'm ordering a Dell, think any of these are available through them?

I'd go threw newegg or tigerdirect for your mouse/keyboard (if the keyboard is important to you) and no not many ppl use a ball mouse for FPS, laser/optical are the way to go.

Well, I'm not paying for it, my father is, and he will only order Dells through Dells.

Anyhow, here are the gaming mice they offer:

LOGITECH G5 Laser Gaming Mouse (ships separately) [add $60 or $2/month3]

RAZER Diamondback Salamander Gaming Mouse with eXactMat (ships separately) [add $58 or $2/month3]

So I'm thinking the LOGITECH one...also, is this keyboard worth while:

Saitek 104-Key Eclipse Backlit Gaming Keyboard (Ships Separately) [add $44 or $2/month3]

they also have another, not sure if it's gaming:

Dell Bluetooth Keyboard and Optical Mouse [add $75 or $2/month3]

So, gimme some feedback.

I like Saitek's keyboards personally. Not because of their fancy backlighting on the Eclipses or anything, but just because they have huge heavy rubber feet that will keep it in place, and last.

I've used a Logitech Elite keyboard for a few years now and the rubber pieces are completely melted off, and this thing slides all over the place if it has the room to.

Yeah, I'll probably get that one and the LOGITECH Mouse.

Is Dual video cards worth while? I know I'm not going to get a Pentium D, but a 3.6 GHz Pentium 4, but not sure about that one. So would having one 256 MB Video Card be capable enough?

The RAM on the video card isn't the most important aspect when it comes to its performance. If you want to run everything on super high detail, you'll probably need 512mb of memory on there, but otherwise the textures can probably be compressed by turning down the settings, and 256 could work just as well.

You can check around online for benchmarks to compare various cards. www.tomshardware.com is one place (some people don't trust the site, some swear by it, so idunno), but you can ask around and probably find others.

Or ignore all that, you should get Dual SLI at the minimum

Dual cards are obviously expensive but are well worth it. That saitek combo you mention from Dell is bluetooth wich means wireless so for the keyboard thats fine but not for the mouse, deffinitely go for the logitech over the razer, its a good mouse and you arnt taking a risk with it.

If you want to swing an arguement with your dad and get an absolutely top notch PC that simply cant be beaten unless you really really know what you are doing... get an Alienware. Dell just bought them so .. .try and blag that its a Dell

We're not even sure if the PC version is coming out sooner. Are you gettting the PC just for Huxley?

Huxley, Hellgate: London and LOTRO.

But yeah, don't think I will get an Alienware, too expensive. Probably just get 256 MB video card and upgrading later.
