You really can see from the E3 footage that it uses the Unreal engine, As everyone proberly knows it is one of the best game engines around so mix that with a great MMO then it really is going to offer us gamers alot to play with and I should think hours of entertainment.

It sounded like that was the mission that was mentioned in an interview where "you might have to go into a city and split into groups to take and control 4 radar points".
There's a couple interesting pieces of information though: 1) We will have some sort of radar, which will show a small area around you with objectives info and teammates' locations. 2) It's confirmed by the 2nd movie that there will be organization into relatively small squads. It shows 3 other peoples' health info on the HUD. Incidentally you also see ALL your teammates' names in white above their heads at all times. 3) There seems to be no types of recoil or cone of fire effects on shooting. This in and of itself has a lot of subtle effects on gameplay. In short, movement and pure aim will be more important than taking cover. You might also imply further assumptions from this (like there probably won't be a prone stance). 4) In the 2nd movie right after the 30 second mark it shows a pickup in the level. This could be ammo, armor, health, who knows, but it's interesting to see that they are actually (at this point at least) sticking some sorts of items in the maps. It's hard to tell for sure, so it could be something deployed or dropped or whatever, but frankly it looks like it has a similar weapon base to UT2k4. 5) The announcer guy pointed out that rather than hard-coded "classes", you'll basically be able to mix and match your equipment to form whatever balances in your character you want. This is cool, because rather than having to commit your character to a certain role every time, you can simply choose different equipment combinations for different tasks. It also means that rather than having 3 different types of characters, you'll have more diversity with in-between loadouts. 6) We definitely saw vehicles in a PVP mission level. Unfortunately we don't see where they came from (if they're native to the map or what). So still no answer yet on how vehicles will factor in. But maybe someone who played it at E3 will know some more details. Of course all of this could easily change, but that's at least something to work with. |

completely invisible snipers? yicks.
From the way he described it it sounds like when you are invisible, you are invisible. not halo/predator type thing, you are just gone. But shooting your gun removes that from you.

That would be a bit extreme... it seems like you could win any "control point" style mission simply by running around cloaked. You could easily hold the point because everyone would be invisible.
There's gotta be something to balance out the cloaks. There could be an anti-cloaking device of some sort for all we know. |

The PlanetSide cloak was nice. I was the person who would sneak up and stab people, I hope the snipers have that option.
