mmorpg.com released a report from E3. last year on the date?? I thought this was new but obviously not. Anyway in it it says two things of significance (well for me anyway) the first is that the game will be playable with a processor as small as 1ghz, and the second which is subtle but amazing :
Quote: This demo also showed one breed of NPC enemy. A hybrid ambushed the ambush and wreaked havoc over all involved. In many cases, the developers explained, the on-going war would have to be set aside as players would need to cooperate and destroy the alien-like hybrid and their minions. anyway heres the linky: http://mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setvi...118/gameID/197 I suspect there will be more to come soon Last edited by cragg; 07-05-2006 at 12:51 AM. |

Ahhh, my point being though is that mid range pc's, ie my 2.4ghz pc should be able to put on a few of the bells and whistles that huxley has to offer.
Not that I have ever played this thing but I notice the minimum specs for wow is an 800mhz pc with geoforce 2. And their recommended was a 2.8ghz with geoforce 2. No company in their right mind want to make a game playable by only 15% or so of the gaming population! |

I'm surprised, but then again I'm not that surprised.
The new half-life 2 engine is made specifically with this sort of flexibility in mind - game developers are attempting to cater for the growing gulf between the 'ideal' system of any given point in time, and what the larger majority of gamers actually can afford to set up. As the previous poster said, it would not be in thier best interest of any game developer to release a game playable only by gamers who afford elite systems. Right now my system is a P4 2.8 with 1 Gig Ram and a XFX Geforce 7800 GS OC so I'm hoping it'll be enough to run Huxley with ideal performance (I don't really mind the bells and frills a game has to offer - I prize smooth playing above visuals - especially with FPS's)

I'm planning on doing a Frankenstein to my comp in the next couple of months as I find out which hardware will work best with Huxley. This one's getting pretty old and even if it runs at bare minimum I dont think I can take low FPS in an FPS.

Just be like me and go and get a job, then build yourself a new computer one part at a time. (Going to salvage my Hard Drive and my DVD-RW so at least it won't be as much and I have more money to get SLI vid cards. )

Might check out zipzoomfly too (www.zipzoomfly.com). I've never bought anything from there, but some of my friends really like it. Last edited by Bourne; 08-05-2006 at 09:20 PM. |

I think its great that they have the lower end comps in mind aswell. Myself I cant hide the fact that I like graphics, its allways annoying to me when I have a game that my PC cant handle at top, part of the reason I like console games a lot, no graphic adjustments, the game is what it is. Anyway I have an OK system that runs HL2 very well, so I hope it will work out.
