Default New to Forum. And quick question about PC spec.

Hey all,

My first post here. To say I'm very excited about Huxley would be a gross understatement. I love FPS games, and I love MMO's. To have the two come together in such a jaw-dropping fashion is to me a dream come true.

I can't wait.

Now to my question. Anyone have any idea what kind of monster server-class machine you will need to run this beast? I downloaded and watched the two videos (gameplay and trailer), and it looks like you'll need some quad-SLI, multi-cpu rig with 4GB of ram or so to get decent framerate.

No way in hell am I buying this game on xbox360. I'm a mouser for life. However, the prospect of dumping $3K U.S. on a Huxley rig has me pretty worried.

O.o

Anyone know what a middle-to-upper grade rig will look like for this game?

well, those trailers are just rendered graphics, meaning not actual gameplay. people say that if you can run the most recent version of UT you'll be alright. Also broadband would be a nessesity =p

No, I was referring to the gameplay movie where some guy from Webzen or something was talking at a game show about the game. The graphics were in-game because the guy was talking to someone who was running the character around the city, telling him what to zoom in on. Showed the detail in a human's hair and on an alternative male's armor.

Here's a link to the one I'm talking about if you haven't seen it:

http://www.huxleygame.com/huxley_movies.htm

Pick the in-game movie.

Well....all i can say is...Get a monster PC.. thats what im gonna do.

And those movies probably are 90% accurate to the in-game graphics. But thats just me dreaming, but you can probably lower the graphics to play it on a less "monsterous" computer. But who wants to play a top notch game with a crappy computer!?

Look at me, im playing BF2 atm, with a half-arsed computer...and its fricking depressing.

Yah, I guess no one knows really. I just hope it's not too crazy because I'm going to try to get my wife to play with me, so anything I have to buy, just go ahead an multiply the price by 2.

If it takes a $4k rig to play this game, I may have to pass until prices come down on hardware.

I'm not dropping $8k just to play a game!

Oh, my rig's pretty old. 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 HT. 1GB ram. BFG Tech GeForce 6800 OC.

I'm pretty sure that thing will light on fire if I try to run Huxley on it.

I mean.. it's still using that arcahic AGP crap! hehe.

I te nd to compare Huxley's specs to F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. is by far the most graphically and visually intense PC game to date, and so by being able to run that at some sort of high end ability, you will probably be able to run Huxley no problem.

I can personally run F.E.A.R. on Ultra High at 20-30 FPS. I run a P4 3.6GhZ, 2gb DDR, and a GeForce 6800GT. If your remotly close to my specs, you'll be fine.

I'm betting you're gonna want to upgrade that 6800GT if you want any of those 'next-gen' lighting effects.

I'm running a 3.2Ghz processor with 1GB of ram and a 6600GT (AGP). It's able to run every other game I have (including F.E.A.R.) just fine. I don't plan on upgrading. Your specs actually sound fine to me.

All benchmarks that I've seen have shown Black and White 2 as being the toughest on graphics cards at highest settings. Then again with all the different options like HDR and softshadows it's getting harder and harder to compare cards (since 1 might not even offer the most advanced effects, so you can't even test it head to head with another).

But there will be plenty of time to test hardware in the Unreal 3 engine between UT2k7's release and Huxley's release. You can bet that the day any sort of demo gets publically released (I wouldn't be surprised if a beta leaks out after E3's play tests), everyone on earth will be benchmarking it to hell and back. So patience will probably be more rewarding than speculation at this point.

Sires, your bottleneck so to speak is definitely your graphics card. If I were you then I would seriously consider buying a new card just for Huxley, but other than that your computer seems fine.

sapphire ati radeon 9800 se 128 mb vid card

would I be able to run it? I can run F.E.A.R on med settings, which is fine with me, but would I be able to run Huxley on somewhat decent settings?

I think most people overestimate what is needed to play a game on High to Max range graphics at 1280x1024.

Take my current PC Pentium D 2.8
2GB of DDR2 Crosair Value RAM
EVGA 7800GT 256mb PCIe

THe rest of the computer doesnt even matter at this point. This is from top of the line, but there is not a single game out there, that I can not run fully maxed out with 40FPS or better.

My previous computer, and now my second computer

Pentium 4 3.2HT
2GB of DDR Crosair Value RAM
MSI 6800GT

The only real difference I have between these two systems, is that my current one can Multitask a hell of a lot better.

I would be willing to be that the 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 HT. 1GB ram. BFG Tech GeForce 6800 OC
Will run Huxley, and most any other game out or coming out within the next year or two, can run games at Medium to Max range.

Especially if the engine is a well written one like Source or Unreal.
Isnt Huxley running on some modifie
