What do you expect, Laz??? A road that goes on forever with thousands of houses on it
I think they should take a hint from PlanetSide and use universal lockers. You know, lockers that are everywhere and if you put somthing in one, you can take it out from any of the other lockers. My thoughts.

Pity they've already said you control buildings within the cities depending upon how well you've done. Not counting mines and other locations. Keeps things competetive.

What i am hoping they do is take player housing and guild halls to the next level, even as far as making it where the more resources you have the more you can upgrade your place or your guilds place, for instance, they could make it so that you could build not only in the city but in highly sought after areas near or in battle fields acting as a bunker of fortress that you could upgrade and that kind of stuff, but I really hope they dont go the way of WoW and base everything on reputation or some kind of honor points or somthing like that where all you have to do to get a awesome house or guild hall is have alot of members or kill alot of enemies, thats lame, it should require at least a semi realistic gathering of materials, even if it is just currency. And then there are those of you who say that is completely impossible because of renderings problems and all that, but it wouldnt really be that hard if they had it already fixed into the game with different levels of upgrading instead of that customizable thing you guys are tlakin about. wouldnt be difficult at all if, lets pretend here, that upgrading guild halls was just very expensive and time consuming, so the more upgraded they were the more meaning they had, but to upgrade it to a really nice place you have to go through all the minor upgrades first regardless, and everyone has to go through the upgrades, although they could still provide variety in looks by giving you a choice of housing style, based on race and location and all that, and of course the upgrades for each house might be in different orders or somthing around there. Also i think that if they are going to have differnt places for houses and stuff instead of that one door EQ crap, that location of the housing will have to be purchased or earned some way first. id unno how that will work though.

Thats a great paragraph there death, and i agree with all of it. But dont get too carried away, the company wont be hearing your suggestions and believe it or not, they havnt even announced housing :( it was just a rumor on a few sites. So there may be no housing at all if we are really unlucky. In that case I may not get the game.

I like this idea I thought up earlier. Okay heres how it goes.
Theres several battle zone instance like things that just make a load screen which takes you to a residential / clan zone. The city could have millions of these around the huge city. Once for each clan/guild and then if it runs out of space they can use several clans for one instance so you select which one you want to enter when you go up to it. It doesnt really matter about how close they are together because they are seperate instances. you go in and the stronger and the better your clan get or you get the bigger your city section gets. You can hire NPC's to sell stuff and buy stuff in your instance and NPC guards etc. The bigger your clan gets the bigger the instance gets so there are houses for everyone etc. Anorhter thing required to extend the size of your instance is by collecting resources. Perhaps you can go out into a battlezone and you see some kind of rock/ore or maybe even wood etc. You can mine it or cut it down, and stick it in the back of your pack or van and you have to transport it yourself to your Instance. Once its taken to the instance your NPC builders get to work immediatly upgrading your town. Get me? Its an idea, but theres a 1% chance of it happening :(

That would pretty much negate the prestige of owning a building in a limited environment and make it about as special as a mog house in FFXI.

I like Lazermatt's idea, just get the tram to take you to your clans suburb around a bigger city and that would be realy cool if you could give resources to npc builders that make your city and houses even bigger.

I think that if a housing or guildhall feature is added it will be somthing like deaths idea. It seems the most strightforward while still having a bit of depth. But an important thing to remember is this is an MMO. They could release it without housing and then a few months later add it on with a huge upgrade.

Damn, how many times do I have to say. They've already outlined the housing system. You control actual buildings of the cities, merchants nearby will give you discounts with time for the outfit controlling nearby buildings. It's not a matter of discussing what kind of housing system they should add, there's already one in it.
