The second prong to Huxley's approach is the concept of "rank." Rank is much like level, except that you can only advance in this area by participating in PvP. This is the "horizontal development" that Kang was speaking about. He makes Huxley Studio's stance quite clear in this area: "As developers, we are putting more importance on horizontal development." So what does it earn you? Most importantly, early on your rank puts a hard cap on how high you can advance in level. So if you're mainly interested in shooting baby Hybrids, know that you'll eventually reach a plateau if you don't intersperse this with the occasional killing of actual players. Advancing in rank also grants you benefits in regards to meta-game functionality -- stuff like being able to form teams in PvP, give orders, arrange strikes, and the like.

i heard that described it sounded like a styraight up pvping
in other wordes you can get to like lvl 10-20 withought ever needing to pvp however from there on you need to get a minimum number of kills or have a good enough k/d to progress to the next 10... could be wrong but thats what i thought they said it was, and it makes sence withought a wide enough base you can't build past a specific point. so you will probly grow verticaly by pvp as well as pve but horizontaly you need to pvp and you can only go so far in pve before you halfto pvp. i like it because as ps prooved eventualy everyone can get the kills so making them a little hard can be very good.

Personnaly, I favor this multi-development path approach to characters.

~I think by command structure he means something like cr5 (command ranks) in planetside. This horizontal development is great but there is nothing said about it having anything to do with commanding.

"What can we expect from the weapons and what role, if any, will vehicles play in the game? Kijong Kang: Players can get various kinds of weapons from stores and other places. Also, they can get new weapons while fighting. They can store their weapons in the personal inventory and select them according to the kind of battle or mission. Players can play various roles such as commanders to lead other gamers or operators to drive vehicles. They can also have their own vehicle as transportation."

Engage in PvE and you earn XP toward level. As you level up you acquire new skills, weapons and armor.
Engage in PvP you gain Rank. As you go up in rank you acquire new skills. Engage in only one PvE or PvP and the game is boring. You must engage in both in order to fully develop your character. I have seen no verbage from Webzen about earning "Command Rank" as in PS for leading squads or platoons. So far, rank and status are integral to your guilds/outfits/clans.
