The reason I won't be buying Huxley upon release is because of the gameplay videos I have seen.
It's too twitchy for me, it just looks like Unreal or Quake. While some people may love that, the reason I am not fond of it is because in massive 100 v 100 battles, I don't want to see 50 of my team mates bunny hopping. |

Sure it's kind of the standard technique when you happen to run right into someones face and you don't quite know what to do. But if you stick with your squad and have a tight strategy, bunny hopping isn't going to save anyone.

I wouldn't mind seeing strafe jumping...which is frequently called 'bunny-hopping' but takes skill to do. Bunny hopping is hitting the space bar, strafe jumping is maneuvering yourself while jumping to improve movement speed. However strafe jumping is an ID thing, so I doubt it makes an appearance in Huxley.
I really don't mind bunny hopping, because if I am unable to hit someone because they jumped into the air...thats a failure due to my aiming skill. I'm loving the gameplay from the demo videos. Everyone has their game play preferences, mine is high speed, low spread. Quake/Unreal and their respective games are completely unrealistic fragfests, full of mayhem, explosions, and blood...exactly what I have seen and hope to play in the battlegrounds of Huxley. |

Actually Blazen Ace.. bunny hopping requires more skill than strafe jumping, and skillful players are indeed harder to hit while doing the bunny. Strafe jumping is merely to reach a hard to get position or increase speed. But nothing compared to bunny hopping. Although one have to take into consideration which game we're talking about. Oldschoolers know that the ultimate bunny-game is Quake1. Though I guess most recognize it from Counter-Strike for some reason...
Hardcore players knows how to play both styles. |

I'm sure people will bunnyhop all the time anyway, at least at first, just out of habit. But if it really doesn't help at all then less and less people will bother doing it.
Maybe people will stick to popping in and out of cover instead

I would not be surprised if UT3 was full of cheaters seeing as there is no cheat protection for this game at all, no anticheat protection companys will even touch this game. I have so many problems with UT3, and it's just "ok". i prefer ut2k4 but i dislike the UT series. It's not that fast...i play a way faster paced game then the UT series if you've heard of U2XMP. Next to nobody plays it anymore sadly. Pretty sad people are noobs now a days, can't dodge and aim at the same time, they gotta walk and shoot. Wow.....lol. Go play Swat 4 if you wanna play slow paced games that the only thing you gotta worry about is walking slow.

, and one whining about the hopping should learn to aim better and faster.

Like I said before, I'm bothered by the game solely because bunny hopping is unrealistic. I was really looking forward to an upgraded Planetside sort of game, and unfortunately, Huxley fails to deliver that. However, it is an MMO Unreal and that I'm okay with, but like some others, including myself, have said, we want a realistic MMOFPS. So to the topic, no I'm not bothered by the term "Twitch Action MMOFPS," but would I prefer a "Realistic Squad-Based MMOFPS" more? Yes... Yes I would.

Honestly I was also hoping for a realistic MMOFPS that's really indepth and all that. I know there are some games that are kind of like that WWII online and PS but I was hoping Huxley would take it to the next level and turn out a realistic MMOFPS that was everything I have dreamed of. I have realized (though it took a bit of facts being thrown in my face...I'm very stubborn But since then I've gotten really excited about what Huxley WILL be. That being a fast pace MMOFPS with RPG qualities. And a possible mix of fast pace FPS action with slower FPS tactics. So I'm pumped about that. I'm completely open to anything Huxley has to offer, the more off the wall and unexpected the better. I am ready to be Huxley's guinea pig. I have a dream game, but the devs of Huxley have another dream...huxley devs...I SEE THE LIGHT!!! :D

I think everyone who is a real FPS gamer has a "ultimate" game that they want to come out. Something so realistic it's just sick. Unfortunalty, it would literally takes years to do the code properly for that and as it looks no one is willing to take the big cash investment as of yet. As for now, I agree, Huxley has so many possibilities that I too am excited to see what happends. What stuff they will have that they haven't showed us yet. As for the bunny hopping..that's what got me away from QTF1. All they need to do is add a accuracy penalty when you jump or strafe. I know strafeing is definatly part of all FPS games but realistically speaking...I don't know too many wars in which they strafed around the battlefield. Then again, in most wars one bullet is enough so its a give and take.

The thing I like about planetside is I didn't have to die if I didn't want to. If I thought I was outgunned I would empty my clip then run to a spawn tube and respawn somewhere else. Plus planetside has so many jobs you could do besides direct combat. BF2142- if your outgunned theres no where to run lol. |

Huxley is going to be based more upon skill rather than being "outgunned"
Someone may be a higher level than you, but webzen said that a low level player will have a good chance at killing a high level player.

I can't beleive this forum is actually having a decent conversation. It's been so long.
*sniffle* I'm so proud! __________________________________________________ ___________ Anywayyyyyyy I was pumped for Ut3. There was a mod for '04 That added monster NPC's to the multiplayer maps and waves upon waves, upon waves would swarm at you. I used it as practice against Huxley's PvE element. You know what? I'm gonna re download it because it actually was kinda fun. Some of the maps even had bosses. Heres the link: Fraghouse Invasion Full Umod, Unreal Tournament 3 Downloads, Unreal Tournament 3 Modifications The reason behind this posting is that I'm trying to remind you guys the game is still 50% PvE - So don't forget!

I used to play that mod too :D you could even level up and customize your characters abilties (Faster shooting, more hp, etc.) Good stuff, and definitely awesome practice for Huxley's PvE I'm really curious as to how end game PvE is going to work in Huxley. In more MMOs high level PvE outings include main tanks, off tanks, dps, main healers, back up healers, and all sorts of other crazy stuff I can't think of. I wonder how boss fights will work. Like if Enforcers can get agro abilities to attract enemies or something. Or if players will just have to use the abilities they have to stay alive (sprinting away, cloaking, etc.).

50% PvE....I didn't know that. I guess that's a good thing so people will have other things to do other than camp outside a city in large groups and wait for people to leave. I hope the PvE part is done well. I don't want them too be too easy but then again if its a one player mission I don't want it to be like the last boss in Duke Nukem either...could never beat him... finally got mad enough and used God Mode... I'm so ashamed
