Yes but Guild Wars sucks and that is why there is no monthly subscription (ahh it is, just the same as every other mmo), there are only a few games in the world like Huxley and most suck also. So the people who are developing Huxley are the brightest people in games development at the moment and they don't work for free, they need paid. And your not just paying to play, these games require massive hi tech servers to deal with an unprecedented amount of lag, which costs alot of money to maintain and buy If it's free then who's going to pay the games developers to upgrade the game with new maps, gear, characters and quests every month (you). There are thousands of great reasons why you need to pay for great mmo's and i gave you just a few i could go on but i've made my point
p.s From my expierence pay to play games attract alot of mature serious gamers who are really envolved in gaming and respect each other and the way they choose to play and in the free games it's just full of annoying people screaming down the microphone and using cheats (hacks) and just trying to flame everybody.

very objective poll ^_^
Monthly fees pay for continued content. Guild Wars has to release constant "stand alone expansions" which in reality is the same thing, only paid in bulk...and with the annoyance of new installs. Paying hasn't prevented a certain game from completely taking MMO gaming by storm. Disillusion yourself if you must, but the numbers speak for themselves. |

^These guys are smart, listen to them.
Not only do the monthly subscription fees pay for new content, but it also makes sure that the quality of the game doesn't go down. If companies want you to keep paying that monthly fee, they'll keep the servers well maintainted, and add new content, thus making a happy gamer and a gamer that wants to keep playing.

I would rather go for no payments, im defending this because i love Guildwars. But if we do have to pay, i would it rather be $10 US a month, $15 a month like
WoW is a bit too much.

I'm basically with these guys. (Except for the guild wars sucks thing....Cause I love that game) But yah, I'd prefer monthly payments to keep the system's and server running smooth, hence less hackers better gameplay. And I Def! Want less immature kids playing with me. As long as they make the monthly payments easier to accommodate to, credit cards shouldn't be the only option sorry, i prefer to buy a card and use Points.

God no wonder mega stores like Wall Mart florish in the U.S, Some of you guys are real cheap and can't see the bigger picture all you see is cost. And "1manarmy" just use PayPal to credit the game.
