Hi I'am new to the forums but I've been reading some of the topics for awhile and came up with this idea that I wanted to post. The idea would definitly need some work but I thought it would be cool that say if the sapien side got pretty powerful and ended up dominating the map, they could end up sieging the Alts main city. This would definitly be a rare thing, but I thought it would be cool seeing a bunch of transports owned by some clans rolling in dropping of their members for some big battle. I also thought they should have layers to the city like one group be attacking say the market and another the inner sanctum or whatever and this would keep it from having to many people in a area and having crazy lag. Well that was pretty much my idea, and I figure if the attackers won that things would go back to normal in the city, but the attackers would get some sort of bonus for their hard work. All in all seemed pretty cool, what do yall think.

More than likely there will be Lv50 NPC guards in each city. So while "Raiding" an enemy city (or you use the term "siege") you will have to fight both the high Level NPCs and the PCs. WoW guilds do this often to Orgrimmar, Undercity, Stormwind and IronForge.

Ok, first off the lvl 50 npc can still be killed by lvl 1's they will just be more agile and have better armor/weapons. Secondly i'm guessing there will be plenty of raids on each city all of the time but hopefuly no easy successful ones. Also i would like to see a lvl 60 NPC main person in each city that is like the ruler or something and drops some really killer stuff, but i would want them to be surrounded by a bunch of guards.

it isn't 100% that they wont allow it. Because after hours of PVE and battlegrounds you are going to want to see if you can rush the city just for fun. Although i heard something about a weapons lock in the cities.

You wont have it in the original cities though they might create new city zones that you can siege. Though the original cities will remain safe zones.

they ruled it out in planetside for a very good reason, they were originally saying they were going to do home base striked, where if an empire held all three primary continents for another empire (the 3 continents with a permanant link to an empires home), then you could launch a strike on that home.
Problem is it quickly became apparent that even without the home strikes, just the process of losing so badly that all of your territory was lost, was bad enough and caused quite a bit of bad feeling.. to then add insult to ingury and have you getting your arse wooped in your "safe" area where you are suppsoed to be able to organise and group up to retake/take territory would just be too much and would simply cause many people to log off.

In neocron, you have these low security zones. In these zones you can attack and get attacked, but there still would be some guard-bots.
Now these guard bots were only dangerous to low-level players. The real trouble was with high leveled players. Whenever you heard shouting "blockage in pepperpark!" you'd know you had to take the metro instead of walking through the streets. Now you might be thinking that it would suck, but it didn't. You see, for every high-level nasty, you have a highlevel friendly. So if you waited long enough at a corridor that 'zoned' to pepperpark, you could see high-level players grouping and charging in. After a minute or so, you could zone in to watch the mayhem unfolding. It was worth the risk of getting shot to see it. So instead of removing game-elements by restricting where you can shoot or by removing dangerous area's, you should fix the problem by adding extra game-elements to let the player solve the problem themselfs. |
