Would you prefer 1st person, 3rd person, or a toggle to switch in between?
p.s. mine was 1st

1st person for everything except driving vehicles. The one thing that really annoys me more than heavy assault in Planetside, are people who wall hump the stairwells in 3rd person with heavy assault. What?s the point of a 1st person shooter if you can go into 3rd person view

Well there might be a tactical standpoint to a 3rd person view when you can see a bit behind you as well if your a squad leader, though 1st person is preferred at most times. Or when driving vehicles.

If the game has the option of toggling, you can always leave it on 1st person. I know that I leave it in 1st person 95% of the time, but I chose toggling between the two in the poll.

I am only picking both because third person view can becom handy in certain situations. Like entering your apartment and you're looking for your stuff. Or you're in a transport vehicle. Though first person would have a more wonderful experience when flying.

I would say toggle because i use the same option all the time in ut2004. I use 1st to aim and shoot and while in 3rd i use to evade attacks and get better view while driving a vehicle.

First-Person always, minus while driving... maybe. Driving in many MMOs simply sucks in first person. however, the only time you will ever really nee 3rd person in a first-person shooter while on foot is as a authorized wall-hack. It really sucks trying to be careful and sneak around someone when at the touch of a button they can see around walls and other obstacles.

Looks like i'm in the minority here, but I would prefer first-person always, even when in vehicles. As Vernes said you should be able to sneak up on people and vehicles, and you can't really do that if 3rd person views are available. Also, vehicles can be more realistically armored while maintaining play balance if only 1st person view is availble. This is because sneak tactics can be used and vehicle drivers are forced to have soldiers on foot watching the flanks. If vehicle drivers can see in 3rd person, some crude balancing measures must be taken to offset this advantage, things like making tanks vulnerable to weapons that shouldn't realistically harm them.
With that being said, I'm still fairly certain that 3rd person view will be enabled at least for vehicles because it's been stated that they want the gameplay to be fast-paced and more akin to UT2004 than BF2. |
