I agree! And if we can't all stick together for whatever reason, I think it's everyone's responsibility to spread this kind of community throughout the game. You can't really expect someone to just start doing you favors and giving you good prices for no reason. You gotta show that you'll be willing to do the same if they ever need anything from you.
So if we all go into the game doing favors for people and set up a good community, then we can for sure make a good environment on any server we choose. And those who try and jack up their prices for no reason will be stuck trying to sell to newcomers who will soon find out that there is a good community floating around the game and they just have to find it :D

Wow. My have these forums changed. Heya again everybody.
Looking at the issue of farming from another angle, the more ads and websites selling whatever in-game currency there is, the more popular Huxley should be. While farming can end up ruining economies, if Huxley will be a well-maintained game (and all signs I have seen point to yes), then Farming will not effect any large part of the player population. So what I'm saying is that the more successful Huxley is, the more gold farmers there will be. Yay gold farming? (No, not yay) |

Did anyone consider the gold farmers that are sitting in a internet bar in China getting paid two bowls of rice for every hour they spend trying to get an item for their boss to sell for real money?
It's basically a sweatshop in more modern terms, and it's some peoples only way of getting any real money. They don't do it to piss people off, they do it to feed their families. Also, about the whole community not permitting gold farmers to profit, it feels good to say, but it will never happen. Some people will not wait to get that uber cool item if they can pay someone $5 to have it transfered to their characters account. Not to mention that the gold farmers could technically form their own guild, so they could farm even in larger PVE instances. Yeah, gold farming doesn't really help in the long run, but it's not something you can just say STOP and people will listen. (Probably because they don't speak the same language) I experienced this firsthand in Final Fantasy XI. At any hour of the day, you could go to where a rare creature is that drops a valuable item, and find a handful of characters always there. They kill the monster, get the item, tell their boss, and get paid. Rinse, and repeat. I even tried talking with a few of them on several occasions, but because they don't understand english (or japanese, since there was a translation feature) it was almost impossible to ask them "Hey, can I get the next drop?" Basically, I'm trying to point out that not all gold farmers work alone, and therefore, can't be dealt with by simply buying from someone else at a higher price, because odds are, if you aren't buying from one gold farmer, you're buying from another. I really hope that Huxley tries to take some measures against this, but it just seems inevitable.

personally i think that some types of farmers are fine because some people play alone and dont have people to help them with finencial business and them find out someone telling him that a mob have a nice drop rate of a great item and that people are having hard time killing him but that guys actually killed it pretty easy even tough people from his lvl are having trouble doint it since he used his brain when fighting it and tough of a brillant way of killing him and then start killing it and selling the drops in the AH ...
1 : it help (noob) or type of player that didnt fit this mob and werent able to kill it or w/e cuz they still can get the weapon or armors by buying it from that guys. wich can be seen as usefull instead of annoying 2 : its just like these guys who buy sports game ticket and resells it higher ... its a way to make business , you can see its as being smart or hate them ( Im NOT that type of player but theres always a type of monster that pay lot of xp that you actually kill easier then other people because of the way you play , its not 'cheap' to kill it lot of time ... whats the point of going after stronger monster that might kill you so many time for hardly more xp ... So it end up being why and how you do it that decide if your a cheap player or only use a nice way for yourself to get money ... example : the 1rst ranked player in the world : he get so many kill and reward from the battleground that he get 50 pretty fast and get godlike equipment and Sooooooooooo much money ... what if theres a noob who cant do like this guy who spend everyday playing thise game and sharpening his skill and his character , this "noob" wont be able to get that much money ... isnt it even cheaper ? ok he deserve his gold and xp due to his skill ... but the noob might not be noob because he never play ... simply not having extreme reflex can decide if your good or not ... so this game shouldnt have money to buy himself good equipment ? this guy will try to find a mob who give good xp and good drop , or maybe simply usefull drop that people use a lot and decide to sell them in big number at the AH , so hell get money to buy himself good equipment that will help him being good stuff for pve ... Because every1 got to approuve on the fact that equipment isnt what make the skill of a player ...even if you got the best equipment .. you can get owned buya guy who have lesser equipment but more skill ... so i think "farming" depending on its form can be a good thing for some player ... that why even tough im not a "farmer" im not a "farmer" hater ... |
