Greetings all. I'm Sentrosi. Been following this game off and on for the past year or so and I'm finally getting excited. Especially since they've released a tenative time table. For the longest time I thought this game was going to be the next Duke Nukem Forever. But I'm happy to see that my dread leaving me.
A little bit of backround on me. But a warning to those with the attention span of gnats. The following is to see if anyone else has experienced the games like I have. You know. See if there are any old hats from the places I've been to and get reaquainted with them. Yes yes, like a High School Reunion.... I've been playing games on PCs well before some of you were born. My first game ever played on a PC was Conan on the old Apple IIe's. I used to play that game just before class started. I knew then that I would be hooked on gaming. The second game I ever played was Parsec for my TI-994a. Ahh yes, the clone of Defender. Fun game and played that for hours. Then came ArcticFox for the Amiga. Had tons of fun with that game too. Fast forward to the mid 90s when a certain game came along that would change me; that being X-wing vs. Tie Fighter. It released the inner Star Wars geek in me. It was this game that introduced me to online gaming community. I remember very late nights logging into the 'rooms' that were set aside for this game. I quickly found a community called Last Starfighters League which I latched onto like a lamprey to a shark. I called myself Wildcard and had a lot of fun there. But after a year I found out that there were several Wildcards out there, so I switched my name to Sentrosi. About a year after I joined up with the Last Starfighters League another game came along; Tribes. What a fun game. Gone was the linear way of shooting at things, (like Doom and Quake). Tribes introduced the concept of using rocket packs to get around maps. Extremely dynamic in its approach to the FPS genre that was, up until then, filled with Doom clones. And it also introduced "Class Play". Want to play as a sniper? Get a laser rifle, energy pack and light armor. Want to be a beast on the field? Get your butt into some Heavy Armor and pick up a cannon. T2 was even more fun to play in my opinion. That's where I met my next gaming family; The Ghostbears. So many good times spent with them. About a year later I heard about a game called Planetside. Some of us from the Ghostbears went to play with a group calling themselves Clan Draconus Lupus. We ran into them a couple of times during our scrims in T2. Honorable players who worked so well as a team, that it was to be admired, even by their opponents. Planetside. What a game. Loved every facet of it. Loved the coordination of outfits together to accomplish a continent-wide victory. Every single nuance of a planetary battle was in that game. Several ways to achieve victory. It was the Golden Sheep in my gaming world. The Dragonwolves distinguished themselves on Emerald as being an outfit that would never give up. We once held onto a key tower for 5 hours. Hoping to get some relief from our Terran Republic vets. We also executed the first 'hot drop' onto a tower. Soon after several oufits would start utilizing the Galaxy as their mode of transport across Auraxis. The Dragonwolves would routinely run Ops nights every Tuesday. Each night was a theme or it was an Operation drawn up by members of the outfit. We would present a plan and execute it to the best of our abilities. Several times our Ops nights tipped the balance on Auraxis to the Terran Republic's favor. I was proud to serve with such fine men and women. Shortly after Planetside was released the officers of CDL approached me and asked if I wanted to be included as the CDL's Protocol Officer. Both humbled and honored by this, I accepted. It's a position I still hold today. Since Planetside I've played almost every MMO that's come out. City of Heroes/Villians, Auto Assault, Lineage II, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Tabula Rasa, Archlord, etc. But each of these never really filled my desire to actually pull back the bow and aim at a monsters head, or actually stab someone in the game in the back. It was all a matter of button mashing and hoping that your character was high enough in level to hurt the enemy. In Planetside, a FNG could kill you just as easily as a Battle Rank 20 guy could. It brought skill back into games that has been sorely lost since. I am hoping Huxley brings back the flavor. Anyway, if you've reached this part of my long winded post, then you must either A. Be really bored. or B. Really want to see more of me around here. So if you've been a part of my gaming history, please respond. I know I've lost touch with a lot of people I've gamed with in my 10+ years. |

Well then those that don't want to read this don't have to. Just because it's at the top of the thread chain doesn't make it more important to them than any other post here.

Hehe...
You're an interesting individual, welcome to the community. For the most part I've found that this community is pretty friendly, accepting and mature. I've yet to have any confrontations with anyone and hope to keep it that way. So you were a Tribes player. Personally, I prefer Unreal Tournament and Quake to Tribes, but I agree that it is definitely an incredible game. Right now, currently playing Gears of War and Shadowrun; patiently awaiting Huxley. What games are you currently into?

Been playing LOTRO. Have a hunter up to 46. Concentrating on getting my woodworking skills up to Grand Master.
Got into the QW:ET beta invite over on Fileplanet. Good diversion when I don't feel like farming and hewing Black Ash over on Middle Earth. There are a lot of tweaks needed before that game goes live, but it's mostly game mechanics. Visually it's nice (8800GTS will help there!). Been knocking around with another beta that Fileplanet offered; Tabula Rasa. Meh, not my cup of tea. I played a bit of UT2k3 with the guys from CDL. Nothing organized. Just some good old fashioned FPS combat. Loved the Onslaught maps. |

yeah I've been playing a lot of UT2k4, hopefully to get me ready for some huxley action.
I was also looking at tabula rasa and heard that the beta isn't all that great. not exactly what people were expecting I guess. Hopefully Huxley will be
