Default Huxley vs. Planetside

This game looks a lot like SOE's Planetside, if it is like Planetside but with better graphics....I will be extreamly happy. Planetside is a great game but the graphics are looking a little dated.
If any of you have played planetside how do you think it compares to this game?

You're obviously new.

But this game won't be like planetside to large extent as you so solemly want. It's game play will be different and so will leveling. Buying vehicles is going to be allowed. There aren't any load times thanks to streaming technology. You earn new weapons and armor every 10 levels. So far we don't know about a greif system or even what guns we can use. But to put it all together in a nutshell.

This game will blow PS out of the water.

really my only turn off is that you have to buy vehicles when you lose them in combat, but thats about it and i can work around it. other than that the game looks like it will have more instanced play than ps...and guyver covered the rest.

wait where did it say you had to buy each vehicle etc, it said you had to pay for vehicles, and that makes me thing swg where your ship can bot totaled but you can have it repaired and put back in action etc.

TheOtherOne,
Huxley borrows some aspects from PS and some from WoW.

In WoW Battlegrounds, the zones are all instanced. This means that only the few Alliance and Horde players that entered through their respective portals are in that "zone" or "Instanced Battle Ground". This is great because you won't see the lag that you might see in MMOs in heavily populated zones like the major Cities of Azeroth. Or in a heavily contested base on Amerish.

As in PS, when you level your abilities don't increase but you acquire skill upgrades similar to the certification program in PS. So a Lv50 Altaraver will have several more options available to him than a Lv5 Sapien: One, but the game can go either way with this 1v1. It all depends on which player knows how to play the game better or has a better machine. But that is true in PS too.

You can engage in Quests in Huxley just as you may have done in WoW. These quests take you into PvE instances where you kill NPCs known as Hybrids. Killing the Hybrids is what gives you the XP to level up. Engaging in PvP will give you rank. Both Rank and Level give you additional Skills so it is best if you do both. Killing those Hybrids over and over again could get old quick.

Actually from the way they are describing the AI for this game it sounds like every hunt will be fun to the last drop. Most likely they hide and wait for the right moment.

I just hope it doesn't turn into guild wars. I can see instancing but instancing like eq1 with zones and such would probably be the best to keep people playing with others.

No load times? I don't remember reading about that... seems like quite a claim.

Yes no load times is quite a claim. But it was said on a gamespy preview.

You won't experience any load times while traveling between them, and in fact, you'll still be able to communicate with your team, as well as receive any important metagame orders from the high-ranked players regardless of where you are in the Battle Zone.

al of this makes me wonder how the vehicles will factor into the game, by the sound of thw whole transport thing the battle zone transport is npc and any vehicle you purchase would be stranded on an island unless another player would ferry you to the mainland. Also how would you zone into instances with a vehicle.

They'll probably do it like GTA San Andreas, which had no load times while playing because it loaded the world as you moved around and unloaded parts that weren't needed.

Well I don't know about the whole GTA theory but I would beleive the whole GTA theory if it worked like that for grages and vehicles. Maybe a "pay'n'spray" But it allows you to customize the colors and parts of the vehicle...

I would assume after you purchased a vehicle, you could insure it so if it were to be destoryed, you could pay a small fee to have to repaired back to brand new. :]
