Default Weather Effects

I do not believe I have seen any threads or mention of weather being in game. But I would really like to see a battlefield with a storm overheard, fighting in a city with rain pouring down. adds a nice effect and suspence. I realize it may cause lag and most people could do without. But if it were easy to impliment, then why not?

Personally I would like to have daylight 24/7 with absolutely no rain, storm or whatever. But hey, that's just me. Don't feel bad if you like the rain.

FPS-games should focus on destruction and mayhem imo, not the weather. I'm the type of guy who couldn't care less about high quality graphics, I'm an FPS-man (as in frames per second) myself. Which also means that I will have to get the biggest and baddest computer out there to be able to play and enjoy Huxley.

Weather would be a cool thing to put into the game I think. As long as you could turn it off if you wanted. Every now and then I find myself looking at the sky when I play games and it would be nice to see a dark stormy sky every now and then, maybe an intense lightning storm here and there. Rain would be cool too. Not really needed, but it would add to the game for those who wanted it.

And if they're taking their time with this game to make sure it's good, then why not? :D

Lost planet ha a few levels where it was snowing that were pretty neat, and also one level that would switch between night and day while you played which was cool, though I hated the level itself. It'd be awesome to see this stuff in Huxley on a few of the maps, but something like snow may cause lag in a 100 on 100 game.

A storm in the middle of a battle would be pretty cool but I would trade weather for bigger explosions and more chaos anyday but they definatly should have day and night.

We haven't heard much about Huxley lately so weather was not a huge concern on my mind. But yes having a cool atmosphere in the game is always good. For know I would rather the developers focus on the core game play, weather can be addressed in a patch down the road.

Give me a nice sky and varrying day light with rain, snow in cities only in combat i prefer no weather at all just lags. A nice sky is enough.

Of course there should be weather and night/day cycles. I really hope there wont be maps either as a previous poster mentioned. Maps are for Deathmatch in old games.

I want it to be persistant weather in the zones that drift around. Just like it was supposed to be in Planetside but it got lost over the oceans most of the time. Sandstorm, rain, snow and fog. Adds a lot to the feeling.

Of course this should be done without the option to switch it off and in a stable manner so it doesnt *Censored Word**Censored Word**Censored Word**Censored Word* up the FPS to much.

Huxley also has the option to Deathmatch and other varios normal FPS game types, so there are "maps" (or as they call them, "battlefields") for that I believe. It would be awesome though if it was similar to WoW where you can just walk around outside the city without setting up battles, and just make it so that outside a City it was PvP or something between races.
Or something like that =/

I really want more info on this game if it's so close to release...

The game isn't really that close to release, but of course we would all love to see more info on it :D

There will be instanced battlefields but they'll be so big it won't be like BG in WoW where it's a pretty small area and just gets boring after you do it for a while. I think there will also be open world areas too, but I don't know for sure.

Considering it's been in development for over 2 years and is supposedly suppose to come out sometime in the next 6 months (Did they ever confirm is 360 version is really coming out 6 months after the PC one?) I'll say it's close.

thought on the weather, for those of us with lower end systems, why not make it to where you can disable the rain or snow effect, but still have the reduced sight range, bullets missing a lil more due to rain and such, and the snow...cold air means i can see you breathe and since this is in the future, why not something like acid rain, meteor showers, hail, or something i havent seen in games, bad weather, tornados, earthquaks, hurricans, fire storms. you know mix it up a bit, make you use a lil more strategy when fighting

i know this is to be more of an arcade style game, but still a lil depth like that could make it interesting...o and another thought, vehicles and mud...reduced speed, or cant use em at all...just thoughts

The weather would be sweet. I agree it should be able to be turned off, but the weather would add a whole other level to the realism and graphical beauty to Huxley.

hey guys i have thought of the best idea about weather that youll ever think off... depending on what time of year, have those weather effects depending on which season it is, e.g. in summer there will be a few storms an lots of sun, and in winter it will be dull with snow, also depending on what time your playing at of how dark it is, like at night youll see what you do in real life, but as this game is made in america it wouldnt really work for people who play elsewhere, well i know that if this is how theyd do it, id have to play basically all the time with it nightime, while for me its daylight, the only way it wil work for other players is if they go on later, so they can play in day light, lol, wait i think id be playing early morning weather when its proper daylight, well ive kinda confused myself and tons of other people that read this, lol

Hmm nighttime sounds good, simply because these are cities we are fighting in and they all should have huge lights to make things easier to see. Although I vaguely remember that the power stations could be attacked to disable things like that. If weather has some actual effect instead of just being for looks that would be good too(stealthing in the rain while running through puddles... not so stealthy).

haha that would be sweet if there were natural disasters like that in the game. Like earthquakes and crazy acid rain or something where everyone (even if your fighting) has to take cover under something or you'll die from from nature.

I know it would be hard to put weather that actually effects gameplay into the game because those who have slower computers will probably disable the weather effect so they can run it better. But they could at least make the screen jiggle a little or something so you can know what's going on :D

Seems kind of far out for them to actually put into the game, but it would be sweet if they did :D just to happen every now and then or something.

Looks like there will be weather, as well as day and night. I know I've seen daylight battles in beta videos but I wasn't sure if i'd seen any night fighting, but here it is: a screenshot with rain during the night.
