Server Confusion....

I was watching an old E3 video where the speaker said webzens online service allows 5 thousand people per server cluster. Now I'm wondering by cluster does he mean server shard? As in will the game only have 5,000 people you can play with for every character? Or by cluster does he mean something like district where each city runs on a different cluster. I'm a bit confused.

I'm pretty sure he means 5000 total in one named server (i.e. LaughingSkull in WoW). Not sure if that's right, but that's the idea I'm getting from that statement.

Yea same here...I really dont like that idea though. I hope at the very least there will be ways to fight other people from other servers in special arenas or something.

By server cluster I'm thinking it may be something similar to how they have it work for maplestory. basically each server is running 12 different versions of the online world at once, each version is sort've what a "district" is in guild wars. you can bring your character on that server into any of those "districts" or "channels" but you may only exist in one "district" or "channel" at a time, and there is a limit of players in each of them

or maybe he meant a grouping of servers that are arranged and networked together for cross server PVP, kind've like what they have going for the WoW battlegroups... of which this concept is a bit more difficult to explain than instanced versions of things, so I'm going to use this as an example http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/b...l#battlegroup3

*points to cyclone group* suppose I'm on Feathermoon server. if I decide to jump into the PVP battlegrounds I will end up fighting against and with the people from the other servers in that group, such as maybe daggerspine or crushridge...

could be either one of those two concepts listed or perhaps something completely different than any previous MMO has done but we'll see, who knows... I can only guess it's one of those two though.
