Default Servers...

Now I know this game seems to be going with a server cluster mmo style set up. Where there are mutliple shards and each one is completely independant from the other. Thats always bothered me. I love what Guild wars did. Everyone is in one world. Each major city has districts where you meet and play with people in your region the number of districts depends on how many people are accessing the town or outpost and you could go to any districts freely. There is also international districts if you care to join groups from other people around the world. It works fine and I enjoy the fact that we are all included in one big community. For the competitive types the good guilds can fight against any guild any time for true supremecy not just with those on your particular server. Anybody else feel the same way or is it just me?

yah i also like that kind of idea. in my current fav mmo, wwii online, its just one big server with thousands of people, lil different tho cuz its just all out world war II, your not safe anywhere, your either allied or axis and you just go on missions accross france and other parts of western europe to fight for different towns to try and win the whole map. i thnk huxley should b somewhat like this, i kind of like the idea of some safezones like the big cities for trading and hangin out and whatnot but i want a lot of area of pvp.

I really wanted to like ww2 online but that engine is soooo gimped. The idea is fantastic though.

wat u mean by gimped? lol. like the graphics or gameplay or wat?

the graphics do suck and there is some lag issuse but yeah i love the whole realistic aspect and how u get together with ur squad and go out on missions in airplanes to para jump and you can pretty much do anythin that was done in wwii.

Well just the fps engine its a bit slugging. I can do with bad graphics but the gameplay doesnt feel to solid to me. But I love the idea just wished it played more like DoD.

is dod day of defeat? had no clue so put it in google and day of defeat is wat i got lol. i also saw that it said wwii is it anythin like wwii online with thousands of ppl or is it like most multiplayer games with like 16 to like 32 players per little map?

I think its both. A mix of large scale pvp and smaller deathmatch based maps. And yea its Day of Defeat its a great ww2 shooter my fav in terms of gameplay.

I don't know if it will just be one gigantic server.

Why I think the, it was either on the IGN or Gamespy article that states that there will only be 1 character on server. And they stated they didn't know how many servers they would let a character play on. So I think there will be multible big servers. Probably regional like Planetside's to help keep people's ping down.

well the only thing is if theres too many people on one server there will be lots of lag besides 5000 on one server cluster is lots and it shouldnt lag

Servers on games are made up of many individual servers running together. It is the # of servers working on one total world that have lag. For example if you are lagging in the city it does not mean you are lagging in the middle of nowhere.
