I like many others am waiting patiently for Huxley to arive, It isnt just another good game I'm waiting for, but I realy have high hopes of what it will (can) become. But then I got a wierd feeling over me...when I tried to figure out what it was I rememberd having the same feeling several years ago.... And wanted it of my chest and find out what other Huxley fans thought of this so I registerd on these forums.
Back then people hardly heard of World of Warcraft or Guild wars. Yet I was certain I was going to play Guild wars, but then the feeling I just described came over me...Why is Arenanet hardly giving any information away? (Compared to World of Warcraft, you'd hardly know guild wars even existed.) With the exepsion of some concept art there hardly was anything to see or know about the game at that time. And in the end my suspisions were right. World of Warcraft became a great succes, completly dominating the MMORPG industry and yes....even leaving quite the marks on the pc gaming industry in general. While guild wars, although grand. Bit the dust compared to his big brother. Even I started playing World of Warcraft and enjoyed it to the fullest, And understood quite clearly why the media etc kept on praising this game. So now I have the feeling again...Because of how the game looks / feels I believe it could be quite populair, even shine along with other games sutch as UT3 or Counter strike! And I realy want to play it! But when I start surfing around the web I hardly find any information, and the media doesnt seem to pay mutch attention to the game either! Basicly what I'm trying to say is: I fear that a great MMO and a great game in general will remain in the darkest shadows with only a handfull of people playing it because the lack of either (or a combination of) funding / attention (from both developers and media) / information surrounding the progress of this game. OR even worse! That the reason it hardly gets any media attention is because it wont live up to my expectations and go down in the big black pool of vague korean MMO's.... (even though I feels SOOOOO GOOOOOD XD, and It wont be able to suffer any of the standard MMORPG problems like 'kill x/y quests' or 'raid X boss every monday friday and saturday night') Last edited by Zapato; 09-05-2007 at 04:34 PM. |

I have the exact same feeling. Like I'm setting myself up for disappointment. I'll be the first to say that I know next to nothing on what goes into generating hype for an upcoming game, but I know that the distinct lack of it can't be a good thing.
Maybe it's because this Korean publisher is distanced from it's (slowly) growing Western fanbase. I don't know, however, with that being said... I just got back from the grocery store, after stopping by the magazine rack, as is my tradition, I saw no less than 3 (Out of 6, two of which were Playstation and Nintento exclusive) different gaming mags with huxley on their front cover. So take heart, I'm beginning to believe the buzz it's on its way. I'm more than willing to help, word of mouth is the best publicity. Edit: And yes, I did buy one of them. ^^ |

How dare they. I check here often hoping to see new class and race information, knowing it to be futile. I get so worked up sometimes I get the urge the throw something and yell: "For christ's sake, JUST MAKE SOMETHING UP!" Phantom The sneaky class. Wowzer! |

Ow if Webzen prefers to work on the game rather than handing out the information is fine by me, problem is that Huxley is estimated to release this year, meaning that we already should be seeing a beta comming up, let alone some more 'solid' game information...
Either that or there is no way in hell Huxley wil release this year, I'm guesing the later. Witch is fine by me but it better be something else |

Well I forget where I heard this from but I think Webzen runs computer cafes(or whatever they are called) and make alot of money off that(not sure if thats true) but I have seen Huxley in a couple of magazines some talked about on this site. They are probly not gonna build up alot of hype for the game till its nearing release. They are still working on it and I guess they wanna keep alot of info under wraps until finished. You are right that could happen to a great game like Huxley but dont get too worried until the game comes out.

Yeah, it takes a big company with money to create a lot of hype, or an idea that everyone loves and wants to follow the progression of.
Halo 3 gets a huge amount of craze just for releasing a trailer, and Gears of War was a major hit even before it was released. If webzen was smart, certain moves to game websites should be taken to build up the popularity of its game towards release. |

Guerrilla (spelling?) marketing like what was seen in Planetside for a while? Like go to popular forums and try to infect the world. Or atleast N America. Iam already bugging RL friends who are a bunch of console noobs (sorry PC loyalist) so maybe I can atleast get them to pick up the 360 version.

Unfortunately, anyone who plays WoW defends it till the death and refuse to think of any other game. Still there are some who actually look at it so theres a bit of good comming out of it My damn threads keep getting deleted off the WoW forums though lol. It's ok I remake them :D |

you're one of the few that play WoW and actually realize that it will die at somepoint and people will move onto different games. Just try and post something on the WoW forums that praises Huxley or any other game. You might get one post from someone who says "yea WoW is going to fail" But you'll get like 20 posts saying "OMG GET OFF OUR FORUMS!!! WoW is the greatest game and nothing will beat it!!!" Thats my experience anyway lol |

I want the next trailor showing bits and pieces of everything the game has to offer. Show gameplay from inside a vehicle, show DM/TDM gameplay, same with CTF, and the robot ctf, aswell as the radar one. Huxley has never been a game of alot of views, and i presume it will stay that way. I just hope it gets the support it needs....can't have aimbots crawling around an unsupported game.

I think for now, they're going work on Huxley, then during the beta, maybe closer to the actual release, they'll actually start advertising.
WoW is getting old, and just like a lot of MMOs, it's going to start failing, people will start leaving, and all they will have left is official events that all the remaining players will go to so that they still feel like it's a MMO.

First of all no amount of advertising would have brought guildwars to the level WoW is at but honestly is there anything wrong with where its at now?
Lots of people play it, Competeing with wow is not necessary at all. Second While wow is aging the three million people who bought the expansion are more than likely going to stay for the next x pac seeing as how it will have another one each year. WoW will die a loooooong slow death because it has millions of people to lose and server consolidations before people will even START to think hmm this server is empty. I think as long as huxley comes out finished *cough vanguard cough* It will be a huge success. Im pretty sure huxley will grab anyone that still plays planetside. WoW grabbed a large amount of rts gamers so maybe huxley will do the same with fps |
