I just found out about the game a couple of weeks ago from my friend across the street who subscribed to those game magazines...anyway, I checked out this website and was elated at the fact that this game looks AMAZING! Although there was little info on the actual site I think that the game has got a LONG way to go before its even ready to come out with a BETA. Its just still in the developing stage, I think...and if its not im sure that when Webzens ready they will have more info than we can read in one day for us. Until then I think we should just hide it under our pillow and wait for tommorow when its the greatest MMO out there!
Go play Gears or something... |

Anytime anyone starts talking about how WOW is so dominating I feel inclined to throw in the disclaimer that WOW cost the developers 70 million dollars to produce (just the initial game not the expansions). MANY MMO's are lucky to recieve a 7 million budget for production. If anything WOW has screwed over the MMO business because all the producers want a WOW but on 1 tenth the budget of WOW and the developers just can't do that. Thus nothing new and innovative can be created. Comparing WOW to any other game is wrong. |

70 million dollars for WoW includes the infastructure costs, which many other MMOs don't report in production costs for some reason. Infastructure costs about 20 million or so. So more around 50-60 million probably.
And 10x the budget is a bit hyped up as well. EQ2 had 25 million dollars behind it. This all just goes to show that in order to produce something great like WoW, producers have to allow budget for it. Don't say that comparing WoW to any other game is wrong, because the quality of WoW is so high that one can easily see that the devs don't care about money near as much as the expieriance. If the game was not worth the money you would not have people playing it for 4-12 hours every day from release to now. And furthermore, WoW has helped the MMO business by providing a model for success that can be scaled down. Last edited by gobbly2100; 16-05-2007 at 06:36 PM. |

You can say that again. I've seen dozen of games, and not just other MMO's. Who use the same UI or Quest / Instance system. I remember reading a review of WoW when it just came out, saying that WoW realy didn't do anything that hasn't been done before in a MMO (unlike games like for example Cohan), but that WoW did made the basic things in a MMORPG solid as a ROCK. Like I said, I've seen dozens of games using the UI / quest / Instance system WoW uses.
Edit: But we're getting a bit off topic I think, You've all convinced me that Huxley wont simply bite the dust due lack of media attention, and that there still busy on developing it. But the game is estimated to come out this year, so either that's not thrue or the developers / media (should) be able to give us some more information? |

hahaha yea WoW is full of whiners
But anyway, I really hope they do start advertising a lot more once beta comes out and they actually have a good amount of info released. I'm assuming and hoping they'll do something like that |

Yeah, the best thing we can do right now is try and stir up some Huxley attention by talking about/typing about around where you live/on the internet.
The beta for Gears or Huxley? Gears has been out for awhile... Last edited by zeekgenateer; 22-05-2007 at 11:18 PM. Reason: user requested |

It's (not very) amazing that every thread in this section slowly shifts to a World of Warcraft discussion. I have no opinion either way, merely making an observation. |

Ha, so many Planetside players i see.. Same here, i went to WoW, quit because its a waste of time/soul draining. Maybe Huxley is secretly being run by SOE, they allways said that planetside was a first toe into the 'MMOFPS' waters...
What am i saying that would be HORRIBLE rofl, but i do hope that this game is at least as popular as Planetside was when it first came out, enough for a good fight. |
