I know that in every game I have played recently there is an option to set the graphics to the max or to turn them all the way down. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure every game that has been made recently has an option like that to let people with not so good computers play games with others, while those with awesome computers can get the most out of their machine.

I've played couple games that had options for different violence or blood settings as well, which changed how much blood splattered when someone was shot, or having headshots blow the persons head off. Hopefully Huxley will have something like.

What would be even better, have one version of the game that is rated E or T that doesn't have much blood. Then have another one thats rated M, so anyone who is over 18 can get right amount of gore that they want and those under 18 can still play but don't get to see as much violence (that is of course if their parents even watch what they play). But I'm sure thats just wishful thinking. Either way I'd hope they had some kind of gore option so we can all set it to the level we like.

I'm not so sure they can do that. They may be able to do that in the xbox 360 single player, but with an MMO, I think it has to be the same for everyone.

I don't think that's true, Ghos7. Since most games, regardless of whether they're an MMO or not, have options that can change how detailed and realistic things can be. Since every computer can't run at optimal graphics settings, there has to be something to lower the level of detail and how much effects the game puts in so the graphics card or processor can run smoothly.

So, everyone will be able to choose if they want minimal graphics for fastest graphics rendering, or if they want to sacrifice speed for more realistic gaming.

everyone needs a little gore in their games. I wanna see bambi's mom coughing up blood as she lies on the ground with pieces of bullet fragments littering the inside of her body cavity from the hollow point bullet. I wanna see little fragments of bone exploding from somebodys head when they are hit from behind at point blank with a SMG.

but seriously, i dont think an MMO will worry too much with gore but more with the content and the mechanics of the game. something like CS will probably be what they aim for in the way of blood and gore.

From what I have seen from the videos, it doesn't seem like there is really any gore at all. (Though the game could change a lot before it is released)

Example - A guy gets smashed by a flying vehicle, and he just ragdolls to the ground from the top of a building. No blood, no gibs, just ragdoll.

I think there has to be at least a little blood, this being a FPS and all, it just doesn't look that way from what I've seen.

I beg to differ. We can clearly see in the gameplay trailers that gore is present in Huxley, similar to UT2004.

I know the images aren't clear, but we can still see that blood is present. Whether gore makes it to the official release or not, I guess we'll have to wait to be able to answer that. Although so far, I'd have to say yes.

Gore is a must. It doesn't have to be the "blown into a million chunks" kind of gore, but it should be realistic.

I want the game to have some blood. maybe even a "Your bleeding" where you are required to bandage or something.

that would be sweet. So like, when you get your head blown off you bleed from your head. And then someone is like oh hey lets put a bandage on your head and you'll be ok :D

I'm sure there will be some gore. Even WoW has little bits of blood splatter every now and then. But as to actual gore that makes me say "oh man that was freaking awesome" would be nice to see

it would add something to the game if some guns made you bleed and you would lose life over time until you bandaged. but when your bandaging, you wouldnt be able to do anything but move.

like old school DoD.

Ya, like ballistic weapons made you bleed and plasma weapons just made you burn, so that you have to bandage up the bullet wound, but the plasma burn doesn't need bandaging because it's already cauturized.

I absolutely agree with everything last one of your ideas, I think they are awesome! And while this is an MMO, you can't say its not all about blood, just becuase a lot of MMO's don't have blood. The only reason they didn't have blood it because of s.hitty graphics...now that we can afford to have blood, we should make its realistic. Its also an FPS, and FPS's have a lot of blood depending on the game. Also, Its not the game developers fault if they make a gory game and little kids play it. Its the parents. Blaming the video game creators for what little kids play is like blaming the P.ORN industry for little kids seeing it. Thts why there are ratings for videos games with a list of stuff its rated for, like "Gore". Parents should pay more attention to what there kids do instead of looking for the easy way out...

having someone instagib when they get run over by a jeep or something might be a little much anyway lol.

I definetly want to see blood, guts and gore but they don't need to go overboard.

Unless of course it's going to be that kind of game. Where when you get shot a crazy amount of blood sprays everywhere. If that was the case, bring on as many instagibs as you please :D

Look at the engine people, it will have gore.
Plus, for all those who are saying they will want to appeal to a wide audience...Look at GoW, how many MILLION copies has it sold? Is it not one of the goriest games EVER?
Besides, with a subscription fee, most of the potential buyers are over 18 with a credit card anyway.
Depending on the quality of the dedicated servers, as long as the users have broadband, gore should not cause too much lag. The battlegrounds are instanced off anyway. Look at all the particle effects in WoW in MC and BWL, I do not know about you but my connection runs it just fine.

It's an MMO, the more brain matter, limbs, and blood you have spraying everywhere, the more visuals you have to process. In doing so, you lag some players and you add another thing to the PC people that they would have to turn off if their system couldn't handle it. Personally, I'm looking for a simple spray of blood when shot, and blood on the bodies from where you've been shot. I.E., you get shot in the left arm, so your left arm is now bloody. Plus, if you watch some of the combat videos, blood just spurts when you shoot someone, so I think they're already past this stage, sorry you gore-lovers. Don't expect to see limbs flying every direction when a rocket hits someone is what I'm getting at.

I like to have the sense that I actually did something, that is why I enjoy blood and gore in games. I don't need it, but if you shoot someone and nothing really happens, it also makes you fell underpowered, but if you shoot someone and they fall to the ground missing a limb or a chunk of them (at least holding a wound that is obviously bleeding) that makes you feel powerful and gives you the sense that you did something. Immersion is a part of games...

just cause people under the age of 16 or 18 are recommended not to play shooting games with gore or sometimes even just shooting games doesnt stop them from playing them, people of that age really like gore and since i am under 16 i know.
but looking at the trailers and gameplay movies,im guessing it will have realistic looking blood when you shoot someone and it spraying out a bit of every time they get shot like most fps games do. and younger players shouldnt have any problems with that.

Gore could well be an option that could be turned off, even by default so thats not really a big issue. They could even have a warning when you try to enable it saying "If your a spaghetti armed nancy boy you might have to go hide behind your couch if you turn this option on" i know i would.
