Default Friendly Fire

what do you guys think about friendly fire? it can add to the game or take away. nothing is more annoying that someone on you team intentionally teamkilling people till he gets kicked/ect. in general i dont like it in pubs, its not fun to get shot in the back by noobie teammates, i would gladly give up having to be careful around teammates to stop that from happening. but it does add something to competative play. its just cool to put a rocket right over your buddies shoulder to frag a guy.

as long as they dont do it like planetside, that was the single worst FF system ever put in a game.

theres a couple ways they can do friendly fire in an MMOFPS:

1.)Friendly fire hits teammates for 50% (or less mabee) damage.
Automatic kick (back to city?) for 3 TKs inside 1 minute.
2.)Depending on how many GMs are going to be online...

Rsport someone for TK, GM observes them annonymously for a bit and decides whether they need a spanking or not

vote system = useless and very abuseable

3. idk im sure theres more

Either one of those would be nice. with number 1 maybe an exeption just in case theres some gun that is a nice big explosion and you accidentally missfire and kill everyone in an area (enemies included, but teammates as well). Maybe if you do that twice in a battle then you get taken out of battle or something.

depends on what kind of weapons we have.
a kick back to the city wouldnt be that bad. that is, if all you have to do then is get back on the train and travel for like 2 mins.

intent aside, anyone that takes out 3 friendlies inside a minute isnt really helping the team out that much a simple kick would teach them to start checking their fire.

Just as long as they have a way to keep those who just tk constantly. If someone is really killing on accident then yea a warning will do just find to make sure they check their fire. But for those who purposfully team kill over and over, it gets really anoying. Hopefully they'll figure something out.

They already said you can't shoot/fight at all in faction capital cities.

The only shooting I could see happening was if they had some kind of duel system that didn't effect anybody accept those who were dueling.

yea i think ff should be there becasue it will stop fools with there big michene guns shooting into a crowd and that they will have to be careful not to mow down there own players.

I would like to see FF only in party play. If you are just wandering around the land you are not able to TK anyone, they have to be in your party and if you are kicked it would end the TK affects of the player. It would help capture both aspects. The realism and strategic play needed for the game as well as hampering those who would grief you in game. My $.02

I wouldn't mind friendly fire in the game, it wouldn't add or detract from my personal game experience. I'm not a player who likes to get his hands dirty in the machine gun messes where that's most likely to be an issue anyway.

I say add it, but I'm sure their are plenty of others with more passionate feelings against it, and I can understand that. No one likes a teamkiller, but I'm sure they are few and far between, especially since any game that includes a friendly fire component pairs it with a system of punishment.

Well, the good thing about FF is that people will not shoot into a crowd if there are allies inside the crowd too. But, then again, this will also spawn player killers, who just want to kill anyone, good or bad. So, in my opinion, if there is FF, there should be a penalty system like in Planetside.

Now that I think of it. It would be really weird if they had no FF at all. I'm so used to having to watch where I shoot, just in case a teammate is around. It's really not all that hard to stay away from tking.

As for those who tk for fun. It's usually not a huge problem and it can usually be dealt with. Especially with games that have 200 people running around in them.

maybe if you can control freindly fire but you go straight into a battle dont you?
well freindly fire is ok just as long as some idiot who starts annoying you so you annoy em back doesnt blow your head off. i say if there is FF then all players who do fire at your team mates should go down a little in xp, and maybe there should be a rank for your freindly fire like good at not killing your team mates would be something like super soldier, and if you were almost always killing your team you would be something like betrayer

Too many TKs? Mark them as enemies in cities and battlefields for a day. NO allies=no fun with 200 people.

That would be interesting, maybe to entice people to kill them they get bounty and xp for doing it. So like the game gives him a bountie and the people he TKed can also pool money in. That'd be awesome.

My personal opinion (how to deal with TKers):

1. If they kill more than three team mates within 5 minutes or, the same player within more than (a number) times within 5 minutes then the teamkiller will get increased spawntime by 15 seconds by EACH team kill, after having killed atleast 5 team mates within (a couple of minutes) then the teamkiller is punished by auto-death (including a lolish long respawn time).

2. Continued teamkilling should lead to an auto BAN from the server.

3. Having GMs to observ a player isn't really a good solution, think about it, there will be 5000 players/match and.... how many GMs do you need to follow 5000 players? yeah that's right.... WAY TOO MANY

or as a follow up to Van Crackin's post.

Being turned into an enemy, sure that could be cool, but what about NOT getting a safe zone in the cities XD everyone can shot at the teamkiller while he can't fire back, and of course, he shouldn't be able to enter a battle for 15 minutes of playtime XDDD!!

That would be really cool lol.

Maybe even take it a step farther:

Someone kills their teammates "X" amount of times and then a bounty gets put on their head. These bounties would be given as quests through in game NPC's and would give whatever reward. The quest could be picked up by players of the same faction and would be located in an easy location so everyone could get it.

When a person had this warrant out for their arrest anyone with the quest could kill them until the quest was completed (maybe 5-10 times or something)

something like that would be cool lol. It would even build up bad reputations since maybe someone would notice if your name is always on the bounty list.
