If I could do it in real life, why would I need to play a videogame ;P

That's why I tend toward the sci-fi games over more realism-based ones, personally.

HA you think double jump isn't real? you haven't been watching enough you-tube. There's some russians and they can do it they run and jump all over the freaking place. Wall? you say? no up and over in less than 5 seconds. 3 story building. no up and over in under 30...these guys are freaking ridiculous. Any way, I personally like being able to jump higher than is humanly possible, though I'm a gamer so that's even less than what would be considered "humanly" possible. I hate when I come up to a waist high railing and can't get over because the jump mechanic isn't high enough/doesn't allow for it. I don't even care if I have to hit an action button ala tombraider to get over the fracking railing but I should be able to get over it.

Secondly, I was under the impression that any one could get the sprint and jump skills to add to their armor. Seems unfair for me and my avenger or phantom to be forced to try and shoot you big ugly enforcers when you're bouncing around like a cartoon character. Besides that's almost contradictory to have the enforcers with all the move powers they are tanks what do they need to dodge behind a wall for, they are the wall I'm spose to be hiding behind.

Tanks are after all just tri/bi-pods with wheels, or in this instance feet.

I think he's referring to parkour and/or freerunning. They do things such as running at a wall, and using their forward momentum to give them the friction to run up the wall and get extra height, also kicking off a wall for distance/etc. There are a few parkour sites out there which outline that stuff. As for double jumping in midair... well we can only speculate, i'm pretty sure its being taken out of UT for UT3, and it looks kindof rediculous anyhow, so i doubt it will be in there.

But back on topic; high speed/acceleration makes GOW cover system pretty useless; since you can jump behind a building easier than you can crouch down behind a broken down wall.

Seeing as you can fire multiple rockets per second its probably certain that there will be some sort of dodge/sprint/sprintjump. As for a roll... I guess you might roll at the end of a dive/dodge but that seems a bit too extravagent to implement for something which provides little benefit over a sprint or a dodge.

I just hope there wont be jetpacks =p

I don't understand why you guys like the GOW cover system anyway, it's not like you can't do that in any other game. In Halo, all i have to do is crouch, or hide behind a wall, and presto, I have cover. Then i just pop up from cover and start shooting the enemy.

The cover system is just a way for FPS games to translate easier to console controllers. It arguably has its roots in console non-FPS shooters anyways... Cabal is an example.

i am doubtful that players from different platforms will go head-to-head in actual combat.
they have said the interaction will be there
but i have a feeling it will be limited to the cities.
u just cant get the same aiming reaction on a controller as u can get with a mouse

I believe that it will be just limited to cities too, but if there was anymore too it, all i can think of is 2 people from different systems on a quest or mission. And that's highly doubtful. Think about it, PC players have the advantage over Xbox 360 players, so there is almost no chance of there be cross platforming PvP.

I'm pretty sure they said the double jump will only be a special skill so no worries.

It would be cool if there was a roll too, I don't really mind spamming rolls even though it looks a little rediculous in game, so maybe make the guy take at least one step or something just to set up for the next roll before you go sumersaulting again. I don't mind rolls because it doesn't make people all that hard to hit. I played gunz the duel for a bit and that had a bunch of roll spammers and stuff, but everyone who played that game was really bad so it was ok lol :D and it wasn't very hard to hit them if they were rolling anyway.

I would also like to see a dive. Like you're running across an open field under massive fire and your cover is in sight. You get pretty close and then you dive through the air landing on your stomach safely behind a bunker or something. Would be nice to have a little speedy jump through the air and a slide across the ground to add some fun to the game. All the BattleField series has that when you were running and hit the prone button, you do a nice little dive. good fun.

Jumping off the walls like in UT2K4 would be awesome too. And maybe, just maybe...running on the walls?! Gunz the duel had that too hahaha, it seems really lame but it was just so fun to do. Probably not good for this game though, just throwing it out there.

Ya it was fine in gunz but in huxley it would kinda ruin stuff. All you would see is noobs running along walls and rocket spamming.

agreed. Running on walls is probably not for Huxley, especially since it's a lot of huge guys in armor running around with giant guns lol.

I see no problem with jumping off walls, rolling and diving or anything like that though, and then the double jump with whatever special skill it is.

i think there should be as many ways to move around as possible. i dont really care how realistic it looks or seems. if this game were realistic then one side would nuke the other and you would get to pay your monthly subscription to watch you corpse rot, HURRAY REALISM!!!

if it ads depth to the game then put it in and F all the f@gs who complain because they want to make believe that they are futuristic spacemen with lasers and rockets and somehow me bunny hopping is ruining the experience for them. cry me a river, go play on your 'roll playing' server turbo nerds. i just want as fun a game as possible and adding more ways to move seems to deliver a more entertaining experience.

Hahahaha awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing both sides nuke each other and destroy the world at some point as long as we all got to watch the pretty explosions, and like we still got to fight somehow after the earth was destroyed. We could just super jump to a new game (as if we were moving to a new planet, but Huxley would really be invading a different game)! The two opposing factions could join forces and we could all go attack WoW!!! They would try to do little fireball spells at us but as they sit there...*press button*...*wait 3 seconds*...*FIREBALL!!!!*...they would already be blown to bits by our massive guns and crazy vehicles of death!

Lmao pretending to be futeristic spacemen with lasers and rockets. Thats awesome :D

I just hope for some sort of dive move or something. UT2K4 didn't have it and I'm pretty sure Quake doesn't have it. Would be nice to see a little dive thrown in there for fun :D

They did, according to Gamespot.

The game will apparently have more than 100 skills at launch; these skills represent the kind of powerful advantages you'd expect to pick up as a bonus item in a competitive first-person shooter, such as the ability to sprint quickly, to cloak yourself by turning invisible, to double-jump, to tackle enemies with a melee attack, and some unusual skills, such as becoming immune to headshots (highly damaging, direct weapon hits to your character's noggin) and automatically detonating your corpse as a blinding flash grenade when you fall in battle

apparently there will also be boots that give u a rocket-assisted jump.
idk if that's the double jump they are referring to. if its a skill then they will be seperate. which would mean u can get both

heres the link, its in the second paragraph.

I don't see how they could be referring to a different double-jump?

That long compilation post said that skills will be assigned to pieces of equipment. So your character isn't so much "learning" the skill, so much as gaining the use of it on a piece of equipment somehow. So it would make sense that it's been narrowed down to something you get with your boots.
